This study aims to compare the results of applying inner contour (X1) and outer contour (X2) techniques in news presenter makeup, examined through three indicators: smoothness, sharpness, and evenness. The study used an experimental method involving nine panelists who assessed both contouring techniques using a rating scale of 1 to 4. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Paired-Samples t-test. The results showed that the inner contour technique obtained a total mean score of 8.11, while the outer contour technique obtained a total mean score of 9.78. Hypothesis testing showed no significant difference in the smoothness indicator (Sig. 0.799) and the evenness indicator (Sig. 0.169), but a significant difference was found in the sharpness indicator (Sig. 0.005) and in the total score (Sig. 0.022), with the outer contour technique scoring higher. It can be concluded that the outer contour technique is superior in forming a sharp and dimensional facial structure, while the inner contour technique is superior in producing a natural and soft facial appearance.
