Waste management in coastal areas remains an environmental challenge requiring greater community knowledge, awareness, and participation. This study examines the role of Mitra Bentala Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in improving environmental literacy among the Baskora Community in Kota Karang Village, Bandar Lampung City, assesses behavioral changes and identifies supporting factors. This qualitative descriptive study collected data through non-participant observation, interviews, and documentation. Informants were selected purposively, involving the village head, NGO manager and assistant, community head, and four active members. Data were analyzed thematically using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, comprising data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. Results show that Mitra Bentala acts as an agent of change through education, mentoring, facilitation, and advocacy. The program improved knowledge of waste classification, 3R principles, coastal pollution impacts, and sustainable management. Environmental literacy encouraged reduced waste dumping into the sea, source separation, organic waste utilization, and collection of valuable inorganic waste. Success was supported by commitment, participation, leadership, togetherness, and stakeholder support, while limited resources and facilities were constraints. Overall, sustained NGO education and mentoring promoted responsible waste management.
