The mathematical Problem-solving ability of eighth-grade students at SMPN 3 Mandalawangi was relatively low due to the conventional and teacher-centered nature of the mathematics learning processes. This study aimed to determine the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students’s mathematical problem-solving abilities. This research was a quantitative study employing a quasi-experimental method with a nonequavalent pretest-posttest control group design. The research population comprised all eighth-grade students at SMPN 3 Mandalawangi for the 2025/2026 academic year. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, with class VIII A designated as the experimental class that implemented the PBL model and class VIII B as the control class using conventional learning. The research instrumen consisted of an essay test measuring mathematical problem-solving ability on statistics material, administered through a pretest and a posttest. The results showed that the mean posttes. The results showed that the experimental class (43,20) was higher than that of the control class (38,76). The thitung = 3,864 and ttabel = 1,996, so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Therefore, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model had a positive effect on students’ mathematical problem solving abilities.
