Literacy skills are essential competencies, particularly in responding to the demands of the 21st century. However, the low level of student literacy indicates the need for innovation in the learning process. This study aims to analyze innovative learning methods to improve the literacy competencies of elementary school students. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, including the collection, selection, evaluation, and synthesis of relevant scientific articles. The results of the study are based on the analysis of five primary sources of literature that have gone through a selection process and are deemed relevant to the research objectives. The main findings refer to the use of learning methods that can influence the development of innovative Indonesian language learning, namely the use of innovative learning methods that are more dominant in the multimodal approach, experiential learning, and the use of digital technology. This approach refers to learning that focuses on students' own learning activities that are designed to be broader and more directed. From these findings, it can be said that studies on innovative learning and literacy are still largely conducted through exploratory and analytical approaches to understand the phenomenon in depth. The integration of various communication modes such as text, visuals, and audio can provide meaningful learning experiences that enhance critical thinking skills, creativity, and communication skills. In the contribution of 21st century learning, the use of text, visuals, or audio can be developed more effectively, taking into account the latest technological developments that can provide a more creative, innovative, and enjoyable learning system.
