<![CDATA[Dental and oral health problems among school-aged children remain high. The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey showed a prevalence of 48.8% in the 10–14 age group. A preliminary survey at Sakti Public Elementary School, Pidie Regency, found that 13 (65%) of 20 fifth-grade students lacked knowledge about proper tooth brushing techniques. This study aims to determine the effect of counseling using pop-up books on students' knowledge of proper tooth brushing techniques. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The population consisted of 55 fifth-grade students, all sampled using total sampling, consisting of 28 students in the intervention group and 27 students in the control group. The intervention group received counseling using pop-up books, while the control group received leaflets. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire and analyzed using paired t-tests and independent t-tests. The results showed that the average knowledge score in the intervention group increased from 53.64 to 75.71, while in the control group it increased from 54.52 to 64.67. The paired t-test indicated a significant increase in both groups (p=0.000). The independent t-test showed no difference in initial ability (p=0.807), but a significant difference in posttest results (p=0.002), indicating that pop-up books were more effective than leaflets.
