Male guppies Poecilia reticulata are more valuable than females because of their brighter coloration and greater market demand. The use of natural compounds for sex reversal has attracted increasing attention as a safer alternative to synthetic hormones. This study evaluated the effectiveness of celery Apium graveolens powder immersion on male sex ratio and larval survival of guppies. A completely randomized design was applied with four treatments and three replicates, consisting of a control (without immersion) and immersion in celery powder solutions at concentrations of 5, 10, and 15 mg L⁻¹ for 8 h. The larvae were reared for 45 days. The observed parameters included male sex ratio, survival rate, and water quality. Immersion in celery powder significantly affected the male sex ratio (P<0.05), whereas no significant effect was observed on larval survival (P>0.05). The highest proportion of males was obtained at 15 mg L⁻¹, reaching 63.33 ± 1.15%, while the control produced 23.33 ± 1.53% males. Larval survival remained high, ranging from 86 to 100%, and water quality was maintained within the optimal range throughout the experiment. These findings indicate that immersion of guppy larvae in 15 mg L⁻¹ celery powder for 8 h increased the proportion of males without compromising larval survival, suggesting that celery powder is a promising natural alternative for guppy masculinization.
