This study analyzes principal leadership strategies for building a conducive school climate during an institutional transition at SMP Negeri 3 Kota Jambi. The transition involved a school merger, preparation for relocation to a new building, and efforts to improve public trust. The study employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal five key strategies: intensive stakeholder communication, democratic and participative leadership, strengthened teacher relationships, arts programs to enhance the school's image, and problem-solving through persuasive, personal, and procedural approaches. The major challenges include limited facilities, low parental support, and competition with religious-based schools. The study concludes that communicative, adaptive, and innovative leadership plays a crucial role in fostering a conducive school climate during transitional periods.
