Self-control is the ability of students to manage their behavior, speech, and emotions so that they align with existing norms. Meanwhile, aggressive behavior is defined as actions or behaviors intended to hurt others, either physically or verbally. This study aims to find out the relationship between self-control and verbal aggressive attitudes among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Mataram in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data collection was carried out using two types of questionnaires: a self-control questionnaire and a verbal aggression attitude questionnaire as the main data sources, with documentation as a supporting data source. The research population consisted of 109 students, and using the simple random sampling method, a sample of 52 students was obtained. The data analysis technique used was the Pearson product-moment statistical test. Based on the results of the analysis, the correlation coefficient value is -0.631 with a significance value (sig) of 0.000. Since the significance value is less than 0.05, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between self-control and verbal aggressive behavior in eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Mataram in the 2025/2026 academic year. The level of the relationship is considered strong, with a negative direction, meaning the higher the self-control a student has, the lower the tendency to exhibit verbal aggressive behavior.
