The low learning outcomes of students on the topic of changes in the states of matter indicate the need for a learning method that can provide direct learning experiences. This study aims to determine the effect of using the experimental method on the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students on the topic of changes in the states of matter at SDN 172 Pekanbaru. This study employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The subjects of the study consisted of 20 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through observation and tests, while the research instruments consisted of observation sheets and test items. The results showed an increase in students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of the experimental method. The results of the Paired Sample T-Test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Therefore, the use of the experimental method had a positive and significant effect on the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students on the topic of changes in the states of matter at SDN 172 Pekanbaru. The experimental method provides students with opportunities to engage directly in learning activities, thereby helping improve their understanding of changes in the states of matter.
