A This study aims to explore the use of authentic materials in English language learning for aviation students at SMK Angkasa 1 Jakarta, focusing on how authentic materials are implemented by the teacher, the roles they play in supporting the learning process, and the challenges faced during their implementation. The research employed a descriptive qualitative design with one English teacher who teaches aviation students in the 2025/2026 academic year as the subject. Data were collected through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using the interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with trustworthiness ensured through triangulation of techniques. The findings show that authentic materials were integrated into the teaching of reading and listening skills through various types of materials such as aviation-related reading texts, safety instruction manuals, flight announcement recordings, and aviation videos, which helped students understand real English use and increased their engagement. Several challenges were identified, namely students' limited vocabulary, different proficiency levels, technical issues, and limited time, which the teacher overcame by selecting simpler materials, providing vocabulary explanations, replaying audio, and encouraging group discussions. It is concluded that authentic materials play an important role in bridging the gap between classroom learning and real aviation communication when they are properly selected and supported by appropriate teaching strategies.
