This study investigates the influence of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by the YouTube channel “Wonderful Indonesia” on students’ poetry writing skills. The research aims to: (1) analyze students' ability to write poetry using the PjBL model assisted by song media, (2) analyze students’ ability to write poetry using the PjBL model assisted by the YouTube channel “Wonderful Indonesia,” and (3) determine whether there is a significant difference in students' poetry writing skills between those taught using the two different media. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a two-group post-test design. The population comprised 297 eighth-grade students of SMPN 7 Medan, and 65 students were selected as the sample, divided into control and experimental groups. Data were collected using performance assessments that considered thematic relevance, typography, symbolism, and imagery. The results showed that students in the experimental group (YouTube-assisted PjBL) achieved higher scores (M = 83.81) than those in the control group (M = 72.42), with a t-test result of 7.050 > 2.040, indicating a significant effect. The use of visual media enriched students’ imagination and creativity in composing poetry. Thus, integrating PjBL and YouTube media presents a promising strategy for enhancing students' creative writing skills, particularly in poetry.
