This study aims to examine the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in instilling an understanding of funeral prayer fiqh (sholat jenazah) to students at Pondok Pesantren As Sulthon, Mersam Sub-district. Funeral prayer is one of the important collective obligations (fardhu kifayah) in Islam, yet it often receives insufficient attention in fiqh learning. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research subjects included PAI teachers, the head of the pesantren, and intermediate-level students at Pondok Pesantren As Sulthon. Data were analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion-drawing stages with source triangulation. The results revealed that PAI teachers play the following roles: (1) educators who convey theoretical fiqh material on funeral prayer; (2) demonstrators who practice the procedures directly; (3) motivators who encourage students to understand and practice fiqh knowledge; and (4) evaluators who assess students' understanding and worship skills. These roles are implemented through lecture, demonstration, halaqah, and direct practice methods. Supporting factors include the conducive pesantren environment, kitab kuning as learning resources, and the exemplary conduct of the kiai. Inhibiting factors include limited practical facilities, heterogeneous student backgrounds, and minimal learning time allocation
