Abstract

This study aims to describe the utilization of plastic bottle waste through the construction of a village gate as an implementation of ecotheology in Dolat Rayat Village. The activity employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, involving KKN UINSU 2026 students and the local community directly throughout the identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation processes. The activities consisted of environmental observation, collection and sorting of plastic bottle waste, material cleaning, bamboo frame preparation, assembly, installation, and final completion of the village gate. Data were collected through participatory observation, interviews, documentation, and field notes. The results showed that plastic bottle waste could be transformed into decorative and supporting elements of the village gate, providing functional and aesthetic value. Community involvement strengthened mutual cooperation, environmental awareness, and understanding of waste utilization. From an ecotheological perspective, the activity reflected human responsibility as khalifah fil ardh in protecting the environment through concrete actions. The village gate also served as an educational medium connecting waste management, community creativity, and religious values in a participatory and sustainable manner. This activity demonstrates that community-based waste management can become a simple environmental innovation that supports village identity and collective environmental responsibility.
