Cognitive decline is a health issue that can affect the independence and quality of life of the elderly. Community-based promotive and preventive efforts are needed to enhance public knowledge and skills regarding the maintenance of cognitive health. This community service initiative aimed to empower pre-elderly and elderly groups through video-based education on preventing cognitive decline and training in brain exercises. The activities were conducted at the Margi Sehat Integrated Health Post (Posyandu Lansia) in the Griya Wonorejo Housing Complex, Gondangrejo District, Karanganyar Regency. Thirty participants took part in a series of activities, including health check-ups, cognitive function screening, video-based dementia prevention education, and brain exercise training. Knowledge was evaluated using pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 6.5 to 8.9, representing a gain of 2.4 points. The proportion of participants with a "good" level of knowledge rose from 37.2% to 85.4%, while the proportion with "poor" knowledge fell from 62.8% to 14.6%. The initiative also produced educational videos and brain exercise leaflets (which have been registered for copyright) and enhanced the capacity of community health volunteers to support promotive and preventive services. This program demonstrates that visual media-based education combined with cognitive stimulation exercises serves as a practical approach to empowering pre-elderly and elderly groups within the community.
