Song lyrics are texts that use linguistic signs to convey ideas and emotional experiences. This study aims to identify signifiers and signifieds, to explain the relations between signs that form the value (valeur) of their meaning, and to describe the implications for Indonesian language and literature teaching. The object is the lyric text of “Sedia Aku Sebelum Hujan” by Idgitaf, released on 8 October 2025. The study uses textual semiotic analysis assisted by qualitative content analysis. The corpus consists of six lyric sections (25 lines) and yields 29 sign pairs. The analysis follows four steps: identifying signifiers, determining lexical and contextual signifieds, analysing oppositional, syntagmatic, and associative relations, and interpreting value; meaning categories were formed inductively after the signs were mapped. Data trustworthiness was maintained through peer debriefing and an audit trail. The results show that 17 sign pairs are oppositional (13 explicit and 4 implicit), 19 are syntagmatic, and 16 are associative. These relations form seven categories of meaning, namely care, readiness, protection, support, acceptance, attachment, and commitment, arising among others from opposed pairs such as dingin (cold) and hangat (warm) and from the replacement of payung (umbrella) with aku (I) in the proverb sedia payung sebelum hujan. The temperature figures show motivation at the level of usage, but this does not invalidate the principle of arbitrariness in the relation between signifier and signified in the language system. The novelty of this study is limited to the analysis of relations between signs in a song previously studied through semantics, morphology, figurative language, pragmatics, and critical discourse analysis. The findings can serve as an example of teaching material for analysing lyrics and poetry in Indonesian language and literature classes.
