Although the etiquette of learning gatherings has been extensively studied, research on the relationship between understanding the etiquette values in Surah Al-Mujadalah, verse 11, and congregants’ behavior during majelis taklim activities remains limited. This study aimed to analyze congregants’ understanding of etiquette values for learning gatherings and their application in behavior at Majelis Ta’lim Al-Ikhlas Simancung. The study employed a qualitative approach in the form of field research. The informants consisted of the ustaz, administrators, and congregants of Majelis Ta’lim Al-Ikhlas Simancung. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data trustworthiness was assessed through triangulation of sources and techniques. The findings showed that congregants had an understanding of the etiquette of learning gatherings, including respect for the ustaz, attention to the material presented, maintaining order, and respect for fellow congregants, although their levels of understanding were not uniform. Most congregants behaved in accordance with this etiquette, although instances of lateness, talking during study sessions, insufficient attention to the material, drowsiness, and leaving gatherings before the activities ended were still observed. These findings indicate that knowledge of etiquette is not always accompanied by consistent application in behavior. This study provides a contextual account of the gap between understanding and practicing the etiquette of learning gatherings in the activities of Majelis Ta’lim Al-Ikhlas Simancung.
