Mangrove ecosystems contribute significantly to climate change mitigation because of their capacity to content carbon and sequestration large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO₂). This research was carried out to examine the carbon content and CO₂ sequestration of mangrove forests in the Essensial Ecosystem Area (EEA), Bagek Kembar, Sekotong, West Lombok. Data were collected through by applying a line transect approach in combination with plot based sampling. Carbon content and CO₂ sequestration were calculated using an allometric method based on equations established by the IPCC. Rhizophora mucronata emerged as the dominant species, representing 39.54% of the total number of individuals. The findings demonstrate that the mangrove forest within the Bagek Kembar EEA has a carbon content of 34.56 ton C/ha and CO₂ sequestration of 126.82 CO₂/ha. These findings indicate that the mangrove forest in the EEA Bagek Kembar play a crucial role in carbon content and CO₂ sequestration, thereby contributing to climate change mitigation while serving as a scientific foundation for the sustainable conservation and long term management of mangrove ecosystems.
