This study investigates the relationship between learning motivation and mathematical independence among students at SMP Negeri 13 Pontianak. Education plays a crucial role in human development, and mathematics is often referred to as the "Queen of Sciences," essential for enhancing human quality. Learning is a behavioral change process influenced by various factors, with motivation being a key element in academic achievement. This research employs a quantitative correlational approach, utilizing a simple random sampling technique involving 34 students. Data collection was conducted through closed questionnaires assessing both learning motivation and mathematical independence. The results reveal r = 0.852 between learning motivation and mathematical independence, indicating that higher motivation leads to greater independence in learning. The findings suggest the importance of fostering student motivation to enhance their learning autonomy in mathematics.
