This study aims to examine the investigative process for online fraud crimes in the city of Palu. This study employs an empirical legal method, which involves direct interaction with the research subjects, to uncover investigative actions that are not widely known to the public. The approach used in this study is qualitative, meaning data provided by respondents in written or oral form, as well as observable behaviors, are analyzed. Based on the research findings, the investigation process for online fraud crimes handled by the Cybercrime Directorate of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police follows a systematic procedure; if any requirements are not met, the investigation cannot proceed to the next stage. Thus, it can be concluded that the stages begin with the Police Report, the Notice of Investigation Progress, the issuance of a notice regarding the commencement of the investigation, expert testimony, the freezing of the suspect’s bank accounts, followed by a direct police summons to the suspect’s residence, then the arrest of the suspect, detention, seizure, collection of evidence, and interrogation of the suspect. Once all official documents have been completed by the police, the case may be transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office.
