This study aims to analyze the legal protection provided to consumers against businesses that use hazardous materials in food products. The research method used is normative legal research. The results indicate that consumer legal protection is not optimal, considering that some businesses still list food ingredients that do not meet standards, thus harming consumers. Consumers have received protection through various regulations prohibiting the use of hazardous materials in food products and providing administrative, civil, and criminal sanctions for violators. However, even though the product is delicious, it does not guarantee safety for consumer health. Furthermore, suboptimal law enforcement also hinders the deterrent effect on violators. Therefore, increased supervision by relevant agencies, firm and consistent law enforcement, and increased public awareness and education regarding the dangers of hazardous materials in food are needed. Thus, legal protection for consumers can be effectively realized to guarantee consumers' rights to safety and security in consuming food products.
