This study aims to improve the reading comprehension skills of fourth-grade students at SDI Nailera through the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) method. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, collaboratively involving the researcher and the classroom teacher. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this study were 18 fourth-grade students at SDI Nailera. Data collection was carried out using learning outcome tests (reading comprehension tests) and observation sheets, which were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed a significant increase in students' reading skills after implementing the CTL method with an effective division of roles within the learning community. In Cycle I, the class average score obtained by students was 68.05, with a classical mastery percentage of 55.56% (10 students passed), which had not yet met the targeted success criteria. After strategy improvements were made in Cycle II, the class average score increased sharply to 81.94, and the classical mastery percentage reached 94.44% (17 students passed), successfully surpassing the classical success indicator set at ≥ 85%. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) method is proven effective in improving reading comprehension skills, active participation, and Indonesian language learning outcomes for fourth-grade students at SDI Nailera.
