This study aimed to develop, validate, and examine the preliminary effectiveness of a Digital Collaborative Learning Model Integrating Local Wisdom for improving university students’ drama script writing performance. The study addressed difficulties in generating ideas, developing conflicts, constructing characters, composing dialogue, and integrating local cultural values into dramatic texts. A Research and Development method guided by the Recursive, Reflective Design and Development approach was employed. The needs analysis involved three lecturers and 90 students from Universitas Pasundan Bandung, Universitas Mandiri Subang, and Universitas Mathla’ul Anwar Banten. Three experts participated in the validation phase, while 60 students joined a one group pretest posttest evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, observations, document analysis, expert validation, and writing tests. Performance was assessed using an analytic rubric covering theme, plot, characterization, dialogue, setting, moral message, artistic creativity, and local wisdom integration. The model comprised seven stages: Connecting Prior Knowledge, Essential Questions and Project Design, Collaborative Space I, Scheduling and Role Distribution, Project Monitoring, Collaborative Space II, and Product Presentation and Reflective Evaluation. Expert validation indicated that the model and supporting materials were highly feasible. Students responded positively, with a mean score of 4.32. The mean writing score increased from 21.00 to 41.43, a gain of 20.43 points. The Wilcoxon signed rank test showed a significant difference, p < .001, with all participants achieving higher posttest scores. These findings provide preliminary evidence that the model was associated with improved drama script writing performance through culturally grounded ideas, digital collaboration, peer feedback, and iterative revision.
