This study was motivated by the limited use of historical values embedded in cultural heritage as character education materials in history learning. It aims to analyze the history of Plaosan Lor Temple, identify its historical values, and examine their relevance to character education in history learning. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings indicate that Plaosan Lor Temple reflects the political, religious, and cultural dynamics of the Ancient Mataram Kingdom through its historical background, architecture, and reliefs. The analysis identified seven historical values: religious, tolerance, unity, cultural, educational, scientific, and aesthetic values. These values are relevant as authentic learning resources for character education because they foster historical awareness, tolerance, cultural appreciation, critical thinking, and awareness of cultural heritage preservation. Therefore, Plaosan Lor Temple has strong potential to support contextual history learning while strengthening character education.
