This study aimed to analyze the improvement of reading comprehension literacy in Javanese unggah-ungguh material through the use of picture-story media among fourth-grade elementary school students. The study employed classroom action research conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 25 fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Pacekulon. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests, classroom observations, and interviews, and were analyzed descriptively using mean scores and classical mastery percentages. The findings showed that the mean score increased from 55 in the pre-cycle to 70 in Cycle I and 85 in Cycle II, while classical mastery increased from 16% to 36% and 88%, respectively. The improvement indicates that picture-story media helped students connect written text, illustrations, vocabulary, and social contexts of Javanese speech etiquette. The conclusion is that contextual dialogues, clear illustrations, and reinforcement of krama inggil vocabulary supported students’ engagement and reading comprehension.
