<![CDATA[This study aims to trace the historical development of the traditional Islamic boarding school (pondok pesantren) curriculum in Indonesia, focusing on its instructional materials, teaching methods, and the changes it has undergone over time. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, drawing on academic books, journal articles, and government policy documents. The findings show that the traditional pesantren curriculum was originally centered on the study of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) through the sorogan, bandongan, and wetonan methods, built around five basic elements of the pesantren: the kiai, students, the mosque, the dormitory, and the teaching of classical texts. This curriculum subsequently underwent gradual transformation through its interaction with the colonial school system, the growth of the modernist madrasah movement, post-independence government regulations, and, more recently, Law Number 18 of 2019 on Pesantren along with its implementing regulations, which formally recognize the distinctiveness of the pesantren curriculum within the national education system. The study concludes that the pesantren curriculum has undergone a continuous process of acculturation without losing its core traditional character.]]>
