Abstract

An independent curriculum in elementary schools is an educational approach that provides freedom and flexibility to educators and students in the learning process. The advantage is that it allows learning that is more suited to the needs, interests and abilities of students, which can help increase student motivation and involvement in the classroom. The project-based and thematic approach applied in the independent curriculum also develops 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity and collaboration which are important to prepare students to face future challenges. The curriculum also encourages innovation in teaching by providing space for educators to use more creative and student-centered methods. In this way, an independent curriculum can create a more dynamic, relevant and enjoyable learning atmosphere in elementary schools that not only focuses on academic achievement but also on developing the character and social skills of students.
