This study aims to analyze the representation of Zhang Wuji (張無忌)’s leadership through character transformation in the 2019 television series Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with Stuart Hall’s theory of representation serving as the primary framework for analyzing the construction of leadership meanings through dialogue, actions, conflicts, and character development. Leadership theory is applied to identify Zhang Wuji’s leadership characteristics, while the concept of character transformation is used to examine his development from a simple young man into a leader who assumes responsibility for his community and the society around him. The research data consist of scenes, dialogues, actions, and character developments involving Zhang Wuji, collected through observation and documentation of the series. The findings indicate that Zhang Wuji’s leadership is represented through several key characteristics, namely empathy, responsibility, wisdom, self-control, and sacrifice. His character transformation demonstrates that leadership is not shaped solely by power or social position, but develops through experiences, conflicts, learning processes, and the trust placed in him by others. Therefore, Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre (2019) represents Zhang Wuji as a humanistic, wise, and responsible leader who prioritizes collective interests over personal interests.
