Household waste remains an environmental concern due to limited public knowledge of waste classification, decomposition periods, and separation. This community service activity aimed to improve residents’ understanding of decomposition periods, strengthen waste separation skills, and promote sustainable household waste management awareness. Conducted in August 2026 in Rulung Raya Village, Natar District, South Lampung Regency, it employed a descriptive-participatory approach involving residents in education and practice. Activities included environmental observation, education on waste types and decomposition periods, interactive discussions, sorting demonstrations, practical exercises, and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, brief interviews, discussions, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. Results showed that participants could distinguish organic from non-organic waste, understand decomposition differences, and practice separation according to waste characteristics. Participants demonstrated active involvement, interest, and positive responses. Combining decomposition education with sorting practice can improve knowledge and environmental awareness. Sustainability requires adequate separation facilities, consistent household practices, periodic environmental education, and ongoing village government support and assistance to establish lasting community waste management habits.
