This study aims to evaluate the potential for community empowerment-based ecotourism development in the Lotang Salo area, Pinrang Regency. Using a qualitative approach and a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis, this study identified key attractions, including river and coastal ecosystems combined with local wisdom. The results indicate that the most effective development strategy is an aggressive strategy (SO), which optimizes the strengths of natural resources to capture special interest tourism market opportunities. Community empowerment was found to be a key factor in ensuring economic and environmental sustainability, with local participation playing a crucial role in the management of tourism facilities and services. Despite its significant potential, challenges such as limited infrastructure and the need for human resource capacity building remain major obstacles. This study concludes that strengthening synergy between the government, community, and private sector managers through a community-based management model is a key prerequisite for transforming Lotang Salo into a competitive and sustainable ecotourism destination.
