Nature tourism is a crucial sector in developing sustainable destinations, including the Kebun Raya Jompie in Parepare City, which serve both conservation and recreational purposes. This study aims to analyze public perceptions of the tourist appeal of the Kebun Raya Jompie through four key tourism elements: attraction, accessibility, amenities, and ancillary services. The method used was qualitative research with a descriptive approach, through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the management and the surrounding community. The results indicate that the public has a positive perception of the natural attractions, including diverse flora and green open spaces, strategic accessibility, and supporting facilities that enhance visitor comfort, despite limitations in maintenance. Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the potential for community empowerment-based ecotourism development in the Lotang Salo area, Pinrang Regency. Using a qualitative approach and a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis, this study identified key attractions, including river and coastal ecosystems combined with local wisdom. The results indicate that the most effective development strategy is an aggressive strategy (SO), which optimizes the strengths of natural resources to capture special interest tourism market opportunities. Community empowerment was found to be a key factor in ensuring economic and environmental sustainability, with local participation playing a crucial role in the management of tourism facilities and services. Despite its significant potential, challenges such as limited infrastructure and the need for human resource capacity building remain major obstacles. This study concludes that strengthening synergy between the government, community, and private sector managers through a community-based management model is a key prerequisite for transforming Lotang Salo into a competitive and sustainable ecotourism destination.
