Abstract

STEAM-based education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) is considered a key strategy in preparing for the Golden Generation 2045, but the effectiveness of its implementation in Indonesia is still a debate. This study aims to analyze the extent to which STEAM-based education planning has been applied in the national education system as well as identify its challenges and opportunities in creating competitive human resources in the global era. The focus of the research is on a case study of STEAM-based education at SMK Negeri 1 Tegalsari to identify how this learning can be integrated in the learning process and its impact on students' learning experiences. The research approach used is qualitative with case studies in several schools that have adopted the STEAM curriculum, as well as an analysis of related education policies. . Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation studies related to the implementation of AR in learning as John W. Cresswel argued. The analysis uses interactive 3 Miles and Huberman models. The results show that although STEAM is recognized as an innovative approach, its implementation still faces obstacles, such as limited competent educators, lack of infrastructure, and lack of systematic policy support. This study contributes to formulating policy recommendations and strategies for the implementation of STEAM that are more effective to ensure that education in Indonesia is able to produce a generation that excels academically and has 21st century skills
