The dominance of Western epistemology in the development of modern science has led to significant material progress, yet it has simultaneously triggered a crisis of values, ethics, and spirituality. Within the context of Nusantara society, particularly the Malay tradition, there exists a local knowledge system rooted in the concept of akal budi and Islamic teachings, representing a unity of rationality, ethics, and spirituality. This article aims to reconstruct the epistemology of Malay akal budi as a foundation for developing the philosophy of science within the context of Nusantara civilization. This research employs a qualitative approach with a literature study method and a philosophical analysis of literature relevant to the philosophy of science, Islamic philosophy, and Malay cultural texts. The results show that the epistemology of Malay akal budi is integrative, combining reason (akal), character/discretion (budi), revelation (wahyu), and custom (adat) as sources of knowledge. This epistemological model holds strategic relevance in building a Nusantara philosophy of science oriented toward the common good (maslahah), civility (adab), and social harmony. This article contributes to strengthening alternative epistemologies that are contextual and rooted in the local wisdom of Nusantara
