Islamic religious education plays a crucial role in shaping students' Quranic reading skills as a foundation for understanding Islamic teachings. However, research findings indicate a low level of student interest in learning and a weak basic Quranic reading ability, such as unfamiliarity with the hijaiyah letters and the rules of tajwid. Therefore, this study aims to determine teachers' efforts, the methods used, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in improving students' Quranic reading skills at SDN 021 Bagan Barat. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study included Islamic Religious Education teachers as the primary informants, and the principal and students as supporting informants. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and its validity was tested using source and method triangulation. The results showed that teachers' efforts were carried out through reading habits, gradual guidance, and the use of interactive learning media. The methods used included lectures combined with peer tutoring and audiovisual media. Supporting factors included school facilities and students' interest in interactive learning, while inhibiting factors included differences in student abilities and limited infrastructure. This study recommends that teachers apply varied learning methods and utilize media optimally to increase the effectiveness of learning to read the Qur'an
