This study aims to describe the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (Gerakan Literasi Sekolah/GLS) program and evaluate its effectiveness in improving students' reading comprehension skills within the context of Indonesian language instruction. A quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The subjects consisted of 27 seventh-grade students from SMP Negeri 2 Sindangwangi, selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected through tests (pretest and posttest), observations, and questionnaires. Analysis involved both descriptive and inferential statistics, including the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene’s test for homogeneity, N-Gain analysis, and hypothesis testing using a paired-sample t-test. The results indicate that: (1) the mean pretest score was 81.81, while the mean posttest score was 80.59; (2) the implementation of the GLS program was rated as "good" (66.67%); (3) student response to the GLS program was categorized as "very good" (70.12); (4) the N-Gain score was -0.34 (categorized as low); and (5) the hypothesis test yielded a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.555, which is greater than 0.05. Consequently, it can be concluded that the implementation of the GLS program has not yet proven significantly effective in enhancing students' reading comprehension skills within the limited duration of this study. Nevertheless, the GLS program has had a positive impact on the affective domain, specifically by fostering greater interest in reading, encouraging reading habits, and increasing student engagement in literacy-related activities.
