Abstract

Stunting screening in community health services depends on accurate and practical measurement of body weight and recumbent length. This study analysed the development needs of the Stunting Monitoring Mat (TIMONTING) as a stand-alone physical measurement device, excluding the APMONTING mobile application and its software functions. A descriptive needs analysis was conducted using the supplied technical presentation, prototype photographs, bill of materials, and preliminary measurement records from 10 toddlers. The analysis covered clinical measurement, operational usability, technical configuration, safety and quality, and economic feasibility. TIMONTING was designed as a 120 x 50 cm non-invasive mat with a 20 x 20 cm control box, an ESP32 microcontroller, a load cell with HX711, ultrasonic and VL53L1X distance sensors, an LCD 16 x 2 display, and rechargeable lithium batteries. The hardware-only component cost was estimated at IDR 1,250,000 after excluding IDR 200,000 for application hosting from the integrated package. Preliminary records included children aged 8-24 months, with mean weight 8.38 kg and mean recumbent length 73.53 cm; however, reference-standard measurements, sex data, repeated measurements, and calibration logs were unavailable, so diagnostic accuracy could not be established. TIMONTING addresses a documented need for simultaneous, readable, and portable anthropometry, but readiness for routine use requires calibration, agreement and repeatability testing, infant-safety assessment, cleaning procedures, battery endurance testing, and usability evaluation with Posyandu cadres.
