Before the implementation of the Community Service Program (KKN) by Group 147 of Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau, household waste management in Ringin Village, Batang Gansal District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, remained suboptimal. The main problems included limited waste separation practices, untreated used cooking oil, and the underutilization of organic waste. The community service program, themed “Environment and Nature Conservation,” was conducted from July 27 to September 5, 2026, to improve residents’ knowledge and skills in household waste management. A participatory approach was employed through observation, socialization, training, and direct assistance. Three main activities were conducted at the Ringin Village Office Hall: socialization on separating organic and inorganic waste, training on producing soap from used cooking oil, and education and practical sessions on making eco-enzyme from household organic waste. Each activity involved approximately 50 residents. The results indicated increased public awareness and understanding of waste separation at the source. Residents also acquired basic skills in processing used cooking oil into soap and gained knowledge of converting organic waste into eco-enzyme. This program represents an initial step toward establishing more sustainable household waste management practices in Ringin Village. However, its long-term sustainability requires continued assistance and institutional support from the village government to ensure consistent waste management practices after the KKN program concludes.
