Adolescence is a developmental stage characterized by various physical changes that may influence an individual's perception of their body and affect their level of self-confidence. Negative perceptions of physical appearance can lead adolescents to experience body dissatisfaction, which may reduce their confidence in social interactions and daily activities. This study aimed to examine the effect of body image on self-confidence among students at SMPN 3 Sungai Ambawang. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants were 92 students selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected using a body image scale and a self-confidence scale. The obtained data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The findings indicated that body image has a significant influence on students' self-confidence. Students who possess a more positive body image tend to demonstrate higher levels of self-confidence, while students with a negative body image tend to exhibit lower levels of self-confidence. The results also showed that body image contributes substantially to the development of self-confidence among adolescents. In conclusion, body image is an important factor affecting self-confidence in adolescents. Therefore, efforts to develop a positive body image are needed to support the enhancement of self-confidence among junior high school students.
