Abstract

Cultivating guava is very important to note so that the production of crystal guava also increases. However, the weakness in crystal guava cultivation is that it is easily attacked by fruit fly pests. An alternative that can be done is to use essential oils with the right time to set traps to avoid fruit fly pests. Observational variables included the type of trapped fruit fly species, trapped target and non-target pests, number and sex of trapped fruit flies, percentage of attack rate, fruit weight, and fruit diameter. Data analysis was performed by statistical analysis using ANOVA and continued with a follow-up test of BNJ 5% and orthogonal contrast. The results showed that each essential oil had a significant effect on catching fruit fly pests. Fruit flies that can be trapped are Bactrocera carambolae, Bactrocera papayae as target pests in this study. Clove essential oil type treatment (K3) and trap setting time of 3 weeks after fruit emergence (T3) can catch more fruit fly pests. However, both treatment combinations had a significant effect on crop yields (diameter, weight and level of attack). Based on the research conducted, controlling fruit fly pests is not enough just to do the packaging, but by providing traps that can help catch fruit flies so as to reduce fruit fly populations
