Abstract

Abstract:The discussion of this paper focuses on two problems, orality of Carita Pantun Sanghyang Jagatrasa (CPSJ) and literacy of Wawacan Sanghyang Jagatrasa (WSJ). (2) Transformation from CPSJ orality into WSJ literacy can be found in literary convention, narrative techniques, formula expressions, vocabulary, and sentence constructions. The transformation of CPSJ can be semiotically considered an effort of preserving moral values in CPSJ into WSJ era along with the situation and conditions as well as interest of the Sundanese community.  The emerge of The universal anthroponimy and tophonimy can be semiotically meant as a symbol of  the existence of old Sundanese that was known in Sundanese society.
