Abstract

Automatic text summarization generates a summary that contains sentences reflecting the essential and relevant information of the original documents. Extractive summarization requires semantic understanding, while abstractive summarization requires a better intermediate text representation. This paper proposes a hybrid approach for generating text summaries that combine extractive and abstractive methods. To improve the semantic understanding of the model, we propose two novel extractive methods: semantic latent Dirichlet allocation (semantic LDA) and sentence concept mapping. We then generate an intermediate summary by applying our proposed sentence ranking algorithm over the sentence concept mapping. This intermediate summary is input to a transformer-based abstractive model fine-tuned with a multi-head attention mechanism. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid model generates coherent summaries using the intermediate extractive summary covering semantics. As we increase the concepts and number of words in the summary the rouge scores are improved for precision and F1 scores in our proposed model.

Abstract

Understanding people’s emotions and orientations attracts researchers nowadays. Current personality detection research concentrates on models such as the big five model, the three-factor model. The Enneagram is deeper than these models for providing a comprehensive view. This theory is a unique personality model because it illustrates what drives human behavior. This recognition helps in building smarter recommendation systems and intelligent educational systems. Enneagram personalities are realized through a long questionnaire-based test. People are not concerned about doing a test because it is time-consuming. A proposed case study employs Twitter’s text to detect Enneagram personality because it requires no time or effort. The proposed case study is based on an approach that uses a combination of ontology, lexicon, and statistical technique. This proposed case study uses the biography description text and 40 tweets of a Twitter profile text. The highest probability percentage is peacemaker personality which is 15.58%. This result means that the identified personality is the peacemaker. The outcome is equivalent to the determination of the Enneagram’s specialized people. This result promises more positive outcomes. This is the first automated approach to determine the Enneagram from text.

Abstract

The study of text is crucial for comprehending scientific disciplines. The primary focus of interdisciplinary text studies is to gain insights into texts in a cross-disciplinary manner. Analyzing structure and discourse allows exploring analytical tools and concepts relevant to both fields, making them useful in interdisciplinary texts. This research utilizes qualitative methods and a library approach using structure and discourse analysis. The data collected will be presented in a descriptive-analytical manner. The study aims to bridge the gaps in text and provide various approaches to analyzing text. The analysis of discourse and structure is closely linked to how we analyze scientific, social, and other phenomena and is dependent on the language and text used. The text structure can be understated implicitly, textually, or contextually, depending on the needs of each scientific discipline. The results demonstrate that structure can be a helpful tool for interdisciplinary text studies and valuable paying attention to structural systems, cohesion, and applying syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic study. Discourse analysis can also be helpful if the texts studied are analyzed about discursive practices and other relevant knowledge.

Abstract

To combat climate change and mitigate its negative effects, it is necessary to increase public understanding of the significance of sustainable development. The discipline of sustainable finance offers a novel opportunity to maximize financial returns by capitalizing on social progress, which constitutes a substantial competitive advantage. Moreover, sustainable finance is not only a financial development instrument for prominent proponents of sustainability, but it also represents the underlying goal of decision-makers who prioritize social responsibility. Sentiment analysis is one of the most prevalent implementations of natural language processing; therefore, this article aims to examine how the general public perceives sustainable finance. The study revealed that positive sentiment ranked highest with a percentage of 62.8%, followed by neutral sentiment with a percentage of 26.9%, and then negative sentiment with a percentage of 10.4%. The increasing popularity of environmentally favourable financial instruments has the potential to generate the necessary financial resources in the future, which are essential for financing the transition to a sustainable economy. The suggestions presented in this article are predicated on the notion that activities promoting sustainable finance are essential to the environmental, social, and economic environments. To achieve sustainable finance, the current financial system must be reconstructed and modified in accordance with sustainable development principles. In order to implement sustainable finance, it is necessary to provide support and enhancement for the adequate human resources, institutions, and new financial literacy of financial institutions.

Abstract

A newly designed curriculum called as K-13 (Curriculum 2013) was officially implemented in the beginning of 2013. A scientific approach becomes the most significant part of it. Some researchers had researched about implementation of scientific approach in theclassroom and they found that the implementation is not optimal. There are many teachers who are not able to implement scientific approach perfectly, the teachers use less than five steps that actually must be implemented in the classroom. Most of teachers had difficulty in implementing scientific approach because they have a little knowledge about it.

Abstract

A newly designed curriculum called as K-13 (Curriculum 2013) was officially implemented in the beginning of 2013. A scientific approach becomes the most significant part of it. Five steps of scientific approach such as, observation, questioning, experimenting, associating and communicating will be studied in this research. One of the learning methods that is often used is discovery learning. This study aims to determine how the learning process uses the scientific approach with discovery learning methods in learning report text. Qualitative methods are used to see how this learning takes place. The research subjects were students of SMP IT Ibnu Sina grade 9. To obtain the data, observations, questionnaires and documentation were used. The results of the questionnaire showed that 5.26% (very positive), 56.39% (positive), 35, 33% (quite positive), and finally 3% (not positive). The analysis obtained shows that from the questionnaire given and the results of observations, students have very positive responses to learning using the scientific approach and discovery learning methods. But in practice it is not as easy as imagined. From 5 steps in the scientific approach, only 3 steps can be applied. This is influenced by learning that is carried out online. Suggestions that can be given are the teacher's ability to know what aspects must be considered before teaching and online learning must be better prepared because many materials are not easily explained without meeting students face to face.

Abstract

The process writing approach treats writing as a process rather than a completed product. Writing studies are conducted as part of the process due to the completion of the written text. In writing classes, this approach tends to focus on the student, and the teacher only acts as a guide. The process writing approach includes actions that occur when a written text is created. This research analyzed the benefits of the process approach as a teachers’ approach in order to enhance student writing skills in recount text. The researcher used the literature review and some of the previous research which has been conducted before as the measurements toward the process approach could improve student writing skill in recount text whether they understood the material which given by the teacher or not. As a result of the literature review and previous research, the researcher found a significant influence of the process writing approach on writing progress and anxiety mainly in recount text. Based on this finding for written language research, the use of a process writing approach is recommended.

Abstract

This research was conducted on investigating students’ perception on how the implementation of visual text analysis approach elevate their critical thinking and drawing the strengths and the weaknesses of this approach in critical reading class for EFL college Students. To convince those two research goals, descriptive qualitative approach with document analysis technique was implemented. Series of document obtained from interview and questionnaire. In addition, during the class, the students were given materials dealing with types and functions of logical fallacy (bandwagon, ad hominem, red herring, straw man, genetic fallacy, appeal to believe, and appeal of authority) which implemented in authentic texts (memes, posters, and comic strips) retrieved from social media (Facebook and Instagram). The result showed that the implementation of VTA approach is beneficial and fruitful in escalating students’ critical thinking, further it was also joyful to have such kind of class for they have a better insight of how to interpret a text beyond the textual feature. In addition, the VTA approach combined with content of logical fallacy also contributed a great deal of logical reasoning understanding which deliver to avoiding and minimizing them easily vulnerable from viral hoaxes mainly in the SARA issues.

Abstract

The observation results reveal that the teacher did not integrate technology into all learning processes, resulting in poor writing skills among students. The researcher aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the TPACK-based demonstration approach in enhancing procedural text writing proficiency. A quasi experimental pre-test post-test control group design was employed to examine this effect. The target population for this study included all fourth grade students at SDN Kedaung Wetan 2. A sample of 40 students was selected, with 20 students from class 4A assigned to the control gorup and 20 students from class 4B assigned to the experimental group. The instrument used in this study was a written test. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS 27 program. Both the Paired Sample T-Test (Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.001) and the Independent Samples T-Test (Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.075) yielded statistically significant results (p = 0.05), indicating that the null hypothesis (Ho) can be rejected in favor of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). This suggests a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students receiving traditional instruction. Furthermore, the N-Gain Score analysis revealed an average improvement of 56% in the learning outcomes. This finding supports the notion that the TPACK integrated method has a positive influence on students ability to write procedure texts.
