Abstract

Botanical Garden including information on their physical  and   mechanical  properties,   natural  durability,   distribution, prospect and other supporting data; (2) to analyze the lesser-known wood species that could be used for  construction materials and then recommend them to be developed through Industrials Plantation Forest. The steps of the study were first collection of data on timber species from herbarium catalogue; second collection of data on the properties of wood from various sources; third, observation of stem morphology in the field. The result of the catalogue study showed that there were 291 timber tree species grown in Cibodas Botanical Garden which were comprised of 14 major commercial timbers, 74 minor commercial timbers, and 142 lesser known timbers. These timber species were also distributed in other parts of Indonesia. Observation in the field then generated 49 lesser-known wood species that could be used for construction materials based on their stem form and branch height. From the reference and catalogue study, it was found that there were 14 wood species belongs to strength class I to III with natural durability ranges from very durable to moderate. These woods were then evaluated based on their morphological features and prospects. Finally, it was found that only ten wood species that were suitable to be used for construction materials, i.e. Acmena acuminatissima (Blume.) Merr. & Perry (Kelat); Adenanthera microsperma Teijsm. & Binn. (Saga); Baccaurea parviflora (Muell. Arg.) (Setambun); Casuarina junghuhniana Miq. (Cemara Gunung); Garcinia parvifolia and G. beccari (Manggis Hutan); Gymnostoma sumatranum (Joogb. ex de Vriese) L.A.S. Johnson (Cemara Sumatra); Mimusops elengi L. (Tanjung); Neonauclea lanceolata and N. obtusa (Ki Anggrit). However, the result of this study needs to be supported by further study on their wood properties since the present data were mostly qualitatives. Further research concerning their silviculture, growth rate, and susceptibility to the diseases were also needed to be done.   Keywords : Lesser-known timbers, Cibodas Botanical Garden.

Abstract

Penelitian ini di rancang sebagai penelitian tindakan kelas yang di laksanakan secara kolaboratif dalam rencana pembelajaran, mengimplementasikan tindakan, mengamati efek tindakan, dan merefleksi hasil tindakan. Penelitian ini di laksanakan dalam 2 siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri dari 3 pertemuan. Kegiatan melengkapi informasi di terapkan sebagai strategi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa inggris. Subjek penelitian adalah 36 siswa kelas sepuluh di SMAN 2 Palu. Untuk mengukur kemampuan siswa dalam berbahasa inggris, tes berbicara di lakukan. Hasil siklus 1 menunjukkan bahwa 17 siswa atau 47% dinyatakan lulus dan 19 siswa atau 53%  dinyatakan gagal. Rencana diubah pada siklus 2. Kemudian, hasilnya meningkat menjadi 29 siswa atau 80% dinyatakan lulus dan 7 siswa atau 20% dinyatakan gagal. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa penerapan kegiatan melengkapi informasi memberikan solusi terhadap masalah siswa dalam bahasa inggris. Kata Kunci: meningkatkan, kemampuan berbicara, melengkapi informasi.

Abstract

The increasing adoption of framing strategy among food marketers and advertisers generates inquiries about the effectiveness of the strategy. Product messages with different framing strategy are expected to stimulate different consumer responses. This research investigates the difference of consumer attitude and purchase intention towards the framed product when consumers are exposed to food labels with different types of food product (hedonic vs utilitarian) using different framing strategy (positive vs negative). A lab experimental design was prepared involving 160 participants. Chocolate was examined to represent hedonic product while packaged milk was used as utilitarian product. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and multiple linear regression. Findings suggested that the effectiveness of framing strategy was moderated by product type. Positive framing was found to be more effective for hedonic food products, while for utilitarian food product, it was more favorable to adopt negative framing.

Abstract

AbstractIndonesian Center for Agricultural Library and Technology Dissemination (ICALTD), as an institution library, has a function in providing information for supporting research and development in agriculture. Information technology has been used for supporting many library services at ICALTD. However, the implementation has not referred to a comprehensive and integrated strategic planning. A good strategic planning of information technology has an impact to the successful of utilizing information technology in the library. Therefore, this research aims to develop a strategic plan of IT-based library services at ICALTD based on the IT-IL V3 framework. The strategic assessment was conducted to analyze the external and internal factors through user surveys and interviews. The respondents were selected based on the organizational structure using SWOT analysis. Moreover, the survey results were analyzed using importance performance analysis (IPA) and user satisfaction index methods. In this research, several objectiveswas determined based on the importance and performance matrix diagram and the internal analysis results. In addition, this research recommended some improvements such as: 1) developing online catalog; 2) improving the library website; 3) developing library collections; 4) conducting user training for improving electronic services and 5) increasing access to internet. Abstract

AbstractThe existance of information technology currently to higher education institution had become a necessity to support education processes. Manajemen Information Academic System (SIMAK) IPB is an aplication (software) that organize the whole academic activity processes namely compiling lectures’ schedules, re-registration through online KRS completion and academical data reports. The purpose of this study is to analyze the obstacles, analyzing the quality level of SIMAK IPB and to formulate recomendation of policy strategy to SIMAK IPB service improvement. Based on the result of SERVQUAL Gap analysis discover that performance degree of the services provide by Bogor Agricultural University was bigger than importance degree perceived by users of academic system in Bogor Agricultural University due to the SERVQUAL score valued >-0, which means the services provide by Bogor Agricultural University have already fulfill users’ expectation. The IPA resulted that in quadran A of Cartesian Diagram, based on students’ perception, there were 7 attributes which will become the main priority to be improved. Meanwhile, based on academic staffs’ perception indicated that there were 6 attributes that become the main priorityto be improved. The conclusion of this study users’ satisfaction degree to SIMAK IPB obtained from questionnaire deployment to students: average value of importance degree scored 3.34 (agree) and average value of performance degree scored 3.91 (satisfy). Meanwhile, the result obtained from questionnaire deployment among academic staff, average value of importance degree scored 3.33 (agree) and average value of performance degree scored 3.92 (satisfy) Keyword: academic information system, information system quality analysis, university system information, SIMAK

Abstract

AbstrakMobilitas sivitas akademik meliputi dosen dan mahasiswa serta reputasi ilmiah merupakan informasi strategis yang dibutuhkan dalam pelaporan kinerja perguruan tinggi. Menampilkan informasi tersebut dalam sebuahhalaman web dalam bentuk grafik akan memudahkan para eksekutif dalam menyusun rumusan strategi. Sistem informasi eksekutif dapat menjawab kebutuhan tersebut karena sistem informasi eksekutif sebagai bagian dari sistem pendukung manajemen menekankan informasi yang strategis yang dibentuk bagi eksekutif.Penelitian ini menghasilkan sebuah sistem informasi eksekutif berbasis web bernama SIMORI yang dapat diakses di halaman http://simori.ipb.ac.id dengan berbagai perangkat karena menerapkan responsive web design. Metode pengembangan sistem menggunakan pendekatan Executive Information System Life Cycle (EISLC). Abstract

Tarsier an endemic primate species to the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. It is important to find information on the type of habitat, use of nesting trees, natural food consumed and distribution of tarsier in Central Sulawesi and Gorontalo.  The study was implemented from June to August 2009 at five locations.  Data collected consisted of habitat, nests or sleeping trees, type of vegetation, and natural food sources of tarsier.  Observations of tarsiers activities were started at 04.00-07.00 continued from 07.30-10.00 and at 16.00, every day for a period of three months.  Distribution of tarsier was estimated by capturing the tarsier using a net of six, nine and 12 meters.  This study showed that tarsier inhabits secondary forests, and crop fields belonging to local inhabitants. Vegetation used as sleeping trees or nests were bamboo (Bambuseae sp.), beringin (Ficus sp.), alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica), waru (Hibiscus tiliaceus), enau (Arenga pinnata), and liana (Liana sp.).  In addition, tarsier also nested in stony crevices, holes in the ground wood. The distribution of tarsier encompases secondary forest, estates, agricultural land, fields, and brushes. Natural food consumed by tarsier were insects 81.2%, reptiles 12.5% and young birds 1.3%. Mature tarsier consumed 12.76 g/individual/day of edible dry matter or about 12% by body weight and used 69.09 kkal/kg of energy.  These numbers are considered sufficient to satisfy their needs for reproduction.Key words: Tarsius sp., habitat, feed, Central Sulawesi, Gorontalo.

Abstract

A vegetation survey of Sumatran orangutan habitat was carried out as part of a larger orangutan conservation project in Batang Toru forest during October 2007–January 2008. The purpose was to provide information about the forest structure and composition including orangutan feeding and nesting trees based on 3.84 ha total cumulative area sampling in 11 sites. The results of the inventory of trees with diameter at breast height (DBH) of 96 plots 20x20 m size e” 10 cm in 3.84 ha area sampling showed that 274 trees species in 56 families, represented by 1,896 trees with a total basal area of 148.9 m2/ha and density of 494 trees/ha, totally the forest habitat dominated by Sapotaceae, Fagaceae, Dipterocarpaceae, Myrtaceae, Anacardiaceae, Casuarinaceae, Podocarpaceae, Lauraceae, Euphorbiaceae, and Theaceae. The forest structure and composition were dominated by trees with diameters of 10-30 cm (75.6% of total inventoried trees) and heights of 10-30 m (80.4%). There were 96 orangutan feeding trees species in 25 families, represented by 536 trees with total basal area of 46.7 m2/ha. The most prominent feeding trees species were Madhuca sp. (local name: sapot), Lithocarpus conocarpa (hoteng), Castanopsis sp. (andihit), Podocarpus imbricatus (sampinur bunga), Litsea firma (urat tiga), Ganua motleyana (sapot), and Garcinia bancana (hole tanduk). The feeding trees with diameters 10-30 cm (77.4% of total identified feeding trees) and heights 10-30 m (78.5%) distributed abundantly in Batang Toru forest, especially in the old moist secondary forests. Abstract

Carbohydrate is a diverse compound in the body and can be  as glycoconjugate which bound to protein in proteoglycan and glycoprotein shape, and bound to lipid in glycolipid shape as well. The study was conducted to get information image of pattern distribution of the glycoprotein at stomach gland from various age levels at Macaca fascicularis (Mf) after and before bearing. Gastric specimen was collected processed through microtechnique procedure, followed by histochemistry Lectin staining to detect glycoprotein from stomach. Observation result of given score subjectively into four categories: (-) none/negatif, (+) low, (++) medium,and (+++) height. The results obtained were tabulated and analyzed diskriptively. We found that glycoproteins complex exist in the glandullar stomach of long tailed macaques are mannose, glucose, galactose, N-acetil-D-glocosamine and N-acetil-D-galactose all of these glycoproteins complex was observed at age foetus 70 days. Abstract

Information retrieval of text document requires a method that is able to restore a number of documents that have high relevance according to the user's request. One important step in the process is a text representation of the weighting process. The use of LCS in Tf-Idf weighting adjustments considers the appearance of the same order of words between the query and the text in the document. There is a very long document but irrelevant cause weight produced is not able to represent the value relevance of documents. This research proposes the use of LCS which gives weight to the word order by considering long documents related to the average length of documents in the corpus. This method is able to return a text document effectively. Additional features of word order by normalizing the ratio of the overall length of the document to the documents in the corpus generate values of precision and recall as well as the method of Tasi et al.
