Abstract

AbstractOne of the reasons for graduating students to become a bachelor of education must go through the scientific paper article stage. Thesis is one of the final assignments of academics, especially students as a form of accountability and implementation in a field which is held independently. This article was created to analyze spelling errors in the thesis proposals of BIPA students where there are still many errors in sentences, especially the spelling that is not in accordance with PUEBI. This research is interesting to study because it can see changes in the forms of language errors made by BIPA IAIN Surakarta students. Considering that in written or spoken language there is still a discrepancy with the rules of their second language, namely Indonesian. This is motivated by their first language which is still inherent in BIPA IAIN Surakarta learners. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to the process of solving problems and resolving them based on existing information objectively. Through detailed information sources, by looking for spelling errors and describing the error data found in several samples of BIPA IAIN Surakarta students. Analysis of the research data, the authors provide an overview under study in the form of a description. After researching the student's proposal, the results of the study showed that there were 68 language errors. 24% use of letters, 22% use of words, 32% use of punctuation, and 22% use typography. One thing that often happens is the use of punctuation marks.

Abstract

The Indonesian learning design of Indonesian for Speakers of Other Language (ISOL) has unique characteristics. This depends on the level of the learner's initial language abilities, age, national origin, learning style, learning goals, and educational background of the learner. One learning design that has its own characteristics is that at a advanced low level it has different characteristics from learners at the level below. Characteristics of advanced low level learners already have sufficiently established language skills. To be able to improve their abilities, teachers must be able to design learning that can develop their Indonesian language skills like native speakers. This research was conducted in the Darmasiswa class at Malang Islamic University in 2019/2020. The learning design used is the ASSURE model, which is a learning design using an approach to classroom orientation.

Abstract

Kesalahan bahasa tulis dapat timbul pada pembelajaran BIPA karena pemelajar kurang menguasai tata bahasa, kurang memahami kandungan makna suatu kata, satuan-satuan linguistik pembangun kalimat bahasa Indonesia, dan penggunaan bahasa Indonesia yang masih dipengaruhi oleh bahasa ibu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk kesalahan pilihan diksi, afiksasi, tanda baca, dan struktur kalimat pada kalimat yang ditulis pemelajar BIPA level 2B Wisma Bahasa Yogyakarta. Berdasarkan 224 kalimat pada angket soal, terdapat 50 kalimat dengan 80 kesalahan berbahasa yang dilakukan oleh pemelajar. Kesalahan berbahasa yang paling banyak dilakukan adalah kesalahan penggunaan partikel pada aspek pilihan diksi, yaitu sebanyak 61.25%. Kesalahan pilihan diksi yang dilakukan oleh pemelajar adalah kesalahan verba, nomina, adjektiva, adverbia, numeralia, partikel, dan klitik. Kesalahan afiksasi sebanyak 6.25% meliputi prefiks, sufiks, dan konfiks. Kesalahan tanda baca sebanyak 20% meliputi tanda titik dan koma. Kesalahan struktur kalimat sebanyak 12.5% meliputi subjek, predikat, dan keterangan. Hasil penelitian ini mampu memperkaya ilmu pengetahuan pada tataran morfologi dan sintaksis di dalam pembelajaran BIPA dan mengenal kesalahan-kesalahan berbahasa tulis yang dilakukan oleh pemelajar BIPA level 2B Wisma Bahasa Yogyakarta atau di lembaga BIPA lain. Pengajar BIPA juga dapat menekankan materi yang akan memunculkan banyak kesalahan berbahasa, sehingga dapat mengantisipasi adanya kesalahan berbahasa dan ketidakefektifan kalimat.

Abstract

BIPA students who learn texts in authentic social contexts will be more effective. Teachers may try to implement text-based approach. This research aims to describe implementations and evaluations of text-based approach of BIPA learning in Ha Noi, Vietnam. This qualitative research used descriptive method in which the subject was BIPA third-level students in Indonesia Center-Umah Indo and Ministry of Defense in Ha Noi, Vietnam. Observations were made for data collection. Journals and documentation books were used as data analysis references. The result shows that in the text-based approach implementation of BIPA learning, (1) learning goals analysis is required by implementing stages of building learners’ background, knowledge, modeling and arranging text collectively and individually (2) studies in finding advantages and challenges can be produced. The result can be used to implement BIPA learning based on text-based approach by observing learning goals and learners’ characteristic. Keywords: implementation, evaluation, and text-based approach

Abstract

The transition of face-to-face learning to online in a short time due to the Covid-19 pandemic is certainly not easy, both for teachers and for students. In this regard, the purpose of this paper is to explain 1) an overview of BIPA learning before and at the beginning of Covid-19; 2) learners' assessment of the ease, constraints of online learning, and their comparison with face-to-face; 3) learners' written opinion regarding online and face-to-face learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive design. Data were collected through observation and questionnaires. As a result, the form of face-to-face assignments consists of individuals, groups, and fields, whereas online is only individual assignments; the learning material is the same: grammar, 4 language skills, culture; PPSX, WA, e-mail learning tools. Learners experience problems in online learning. The learner has written advice in interactive learning and the use of English. Face-to-face learning is better than online learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the appropriateness of the content in the Sahabatku Indonesia textbook for BIPA level 1 students published by the Language and Book Development Agency of the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with the data source of the Sahabatku Indonesia textbook for BIPA students. level 1. The data of this research are in the form of material in the Sahabatku Indonesia textbook for BIPA level 1 students. Data analysis techniques include several stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results showed that the Sahabatku Indonesia textbook for BIPA level 1 students was suitable for use in the BIPA level 1 learning process, although there were several units that needed to be refined, namely the aspects of accuracy in concepts and theory, and accuracy in training.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the use of literary texts in BIPA teaching and learning (Indonesian as a Foreign Language) as the authentic materials. The use of literary texts cover teaching four integrated skills including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This study also explains how important the role of literary texts in BIPA teaching and learning. In addition, what are the criteria of good literary texts which are suitable for foreign language teaching? Furthermore, this study examines the problems, challenges, and advantages of teaching literary texts in the context of BIPA teaching and learning. Therefore, the researcher describes the steps on how to choose literary texts materials, designs meaningful activities in the class, and gives an example on how to teach literary texts to the BIPA students at an advanced level.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan penggunaan teks sastra dalam pembelajaran BIPA sebagai teks otentik. Pengajaran teks sastra bisa mencangkup pengajaran empat keterampilan berbahasa yaitu berbicara, menyimak, membaca, dan menulis secara terintegrasi. Penelitian ini juga menjelaskan seberapa penting peran teks sastra dalam pembelajaran BIPA. Selanjutnya, teks sastra yang bagaimana bisa dikategorikan memenuhi syarat untuk pengajaran bahasa asing. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini memaparkan problematika, tantangan, dan keuntungan pengajaran teks sastra dalam pembelajaran BIPA. Dengan demikian, peneliti mampu memberikan contoh bagaimana langkah-langkah dalam pemilihan teks sastra, menyusun aktivitas yang bermakna, dan cara mengajarkan teks sastra kepada pemelajar BIPA pada tingkat lanjut.

Abstract

Gender bias in textbook material affects learners in learning language. The purpose of this research is to reveal the gender representation in the BIPA 7 Learners Series “Sahabatku Indonesia”. Content analysis is carried out on the textual and visual material contained in the book. The results of this study reveal that the male character representation is more dominant than the female textually. Based on their social roles, male characters in textual materials are more diverse than characters that represent women. In addition, the results of the analysis of visual material in the form of pictures, photographs and illustrations also show the dominance of men over women with a ratio of 4: 1. In conclusion, the material contained in the analyzed books has not provided equal opportunities between women and men in Indonesian language teaching materials for foreigners.

Abstract

Interferensi fonologis bahasa Jepang terhadap bahasa Indonesia yang terjadi pada pemelajar BIPA asal Jepang merupakan salah satu kendala yang dialami oleh pemelajar dalam mempelajari bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui interferensi yang terjadi pada pemelajar, faktor penyebab interferensi, dan solusi interferensi bahasa Jepang terhadap bahasa Indonesia yang terjadi pada pemelajar BIPA asal Jepang di PT Sakai Mulia Koken Indonesia. Penelitian dimulai dari 20 Oktober hingga 11 November 2020 di PT Sakai Mulia Koken Indonesia, Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah pemelajar atau penutur asing yang sedang belajar berbahasa Indonesia yang dengan jumlah informan yang diambil berjumlah 3 orang yang merupakan pemelajar BIPA level A1 (Pemula). Pada penelitian ini penulis menggunakan tiga metode dalam menganalisis, yaitu: metode padan artikulatoris, metode padan ortografis, dan metode komparatif. Dalam pengumpulan data penulis menggunakan teknik rekam, teknik simak bebas libat cakap, dan teknik catat (transkripsi).  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interferensi terjadi dalam bentuk perubahan bunyi fonem, penambahan fonem, penghilangan fonem, dan pemenggalan fonem pada ketiga subjek yang diteliti. Ditemukan sebanyak 564 interferensi, frekuensi interferensi fonem vokal sebanyak 11 interferensi, dan interferensi fonem konsonan sebanyak 553 interferensi pada ketiga subjek. Interferensi fonologis pada penutur asing dapat diatasi salah satunya saat pembelajaran BIPA dapat menggunakan metode praktik langsung (drill method) dan metode audiolingual dan memperbanyak frekuensi interaksi menggunakan bahasa Indonesia dalam pembelajaran maupun diluar pembelajaran.

Abstract

Speakers of two or more languages or known as multilinguist who could produce speech yet differently from their perception. A language which used outside their social context generally known as foreign language. The Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia has since 2017 held a program titled Apresiasi PemenangLomba Berpidato dan Bercerita (APLBB BIPA) which awardees are from around the globe. In 2019, the awardees were the winner of speech and story-telling competition in Indonesian Embassies and Consulates from twenty-one countries, including the L1 English-speaker from Australia, and the United States of America. L2 speakers often produce different speech than they have perceived, in this case, with the awardees of APLBB BIPA L1 English-speakers. Based on perception and speech production analysis, it is found that phonological variables such as vocals, consonants, and sound-added vocals produced by L1 English-speaker awardees appeared. This means that they perceived the sounds differently from their speech productions
