Abstract

Based on the problem of difficult to write a review text such as determining characteristics, structure, and linguistics to know whether the skills of writing text of junior high school students learn to use a scientific approach is better than using the scientific method? To know the skills of writing an explanatory text for junior high school students using a scientific approach is better than using the scientific method. The research method used in this research is quasi-experiment. The population in this study is a class VIII junior high school students’ with a sample of two classes, amounting to 60 students. Based on the research, the average value of the final test of the experiment is 73 while the control class gets the average score of the final test 70. The results of this study indicate that student learning outcomes by using a scientific approach is better than the lecture method on the subject of writing a review text.

Abstract

Based on the above title the problem formulation as follows: 1) Is the writing skills of the text of the junior high school students whose learning using exploratory approach is better than using conventional methods? 2) Is the learning creativity of junior high school students whose learning using exploratory approach is better than conventional method? 3) Is there a relationship between students' learning creativity with text writing skills procedures? 4) How does the student picture at the time of writing text writing procedures? this study aims to obtain the results 1) to know the skills of writing scientific work of junior high school students whose learning using exploratory approach is better than using conventional methods. 2) to know the creativity of junior high school students whose learning using exploratory approach is better than a conventional method. 3) to find out the relationship between junior high school students' creativity with the skill of writing procedure text. 4) to know the description of students at the time of writing text writing procedures. The hypothesis of this study shows that the students' learning outcomes using exploratory approaches are better than conventional methods on Indonesian subjects regarding writing procedure text.

Abstract

The main purpose of teaching learning English in Junior High School to develop the students’ competence and knowledge in four language skills, Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing. One of the difficult skills is writing. In this research are describe how are the uses, problems, and solutions of the use of Literacy Approach to Teach Writing of Descriptive Text At The Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 1 Ngebel.  Literacy approach is one of the approaches used to teach writing especially in descriptive text because Literacy approach is the ability to read and write. There are some step of teaching writing, they are planning, composing, and revising. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Participant/Informant of the research are the English teacher and the seventh grade students of SMPN I Ngebel Ponorogo. This research uses purposive sampling technique. The techniques which are used to collect the data are observation, interview, and documentation. Techniques of the data analysis are data reduction, data display and drawing conclusions. The result of the analyzing data indicates that the uses of literacy approach in teaching writing of descriptive text are divided into two steps. The first is preparation steps and the second is learning process. The learning process uses literacy approach includes introduce and giving explanation the descriptive text, give the modal of the descriptive text and have text to analyze, make group work to discussion the students’ ideas, give the chance to make students’ own product and also checking the students’ understanding about the material. Besides, the problem of the use literacy approach in writing of descriptive text are sometimes the students are noisy in the classroom and their vocabulary are still low. The students feel afraid to deliver their opinion and ideas in teaching and learning process. The solution of the use literacy approach in writing of descriptive are the students must make group work of the students’ worksheet, Teacher controls the students and gives scores for students.

Abstract

The aims of the research were to investigate: 1) the effect of Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique on the tenth grade students? reading competency, and 2) the difference of the effect of Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique viewed from text genre on the tenth grade students? reading competency. This research was an experimental research with Post-Test Only Control-Group Design. The population of the study was 6 classes (198 students) of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Penebel in academic year 2015/2016, in which two classes were the samples of this research which was assigned into two groups, one class with 34 students as the control group (Scientific Approach without P.L.A.N) and one class with 34 students as experimental group (Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique). The two groups were determined by using Cluster Random Sampling technique. The data were collected through reading competency test, and were analyzed by applying One-Way ANOVA. In line with the research questions, the results shows that there is statistically significant effect of Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique on the tenth grade students? reading competency. Besides, there is no significant difference of the effect of Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique viewed from text genre (i.e. descriptive, narrative, recount) on the tenth grade students? reading competency. These results provide empirical evidence of the importance of implementing the specific teaching strategies of Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique in improving students? reading competency.Kata Kunci : Scientific Approach, P.L.A.N (Predict, Locate, Add, Note) technique, text genre, reading competency. Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui; 1) pengaruh pendekatan ilmiah yang dikombinasikan dengan teknik P.L.A.N terhadap kompetensi membaca siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 1 Penebel, dan 2) perbedaan pengaruh pendekatan ilmiah yang dikombinasikan dengan teknik P.L.A.N ditinjau dari jenis teks terhadap kompetensi membaca siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 1 Penebel. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan bentuk rancangan Post-Test Only Control-Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 6 kelas dari kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Penebel tahun ajaran 2015/2016 yang terdiri dari 198 siswa, dimana dua kelas merupakan sampel dari penelitian ini yang menjadi dua kelompok, satu kelas yang terdiri 34 orang siswa sebagai kelompok control (Pendekatan Ilmiah tanpa menggunakan teknik P.L.A.N), dan satu kelas yang terdiri dari 34 siswa sebagai kelompok eksperimen (Pendekatan Ilmiah dengan teknik P.L.A.N). Penentuan sampel ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik Cluster Random Sampling. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui tes kompetensi membaca, dan kemudian dianalisa dengan One-Way ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari strategi pendekatan ilmiah dengan teknik P.L.A.N terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Penebel, dan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dari pengaruh strategi pendekatan ilmiah dengan teknik P.L.A.N ditinjau dari jenis teks terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Penebel ditinjau. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan bukti empiris tentang pentingnya penerapan strategi pendekatan ilmiah yang dikombinasikan dengan teknik P.L.A.N dalam upaya meningkatkan kompetensi membaca siswa.keyword : Pendekatan Ilmiah, teknik P.L.A.N (Predict, Locate, Add, Note), teks, kompetensi membaca.

Abstract

Penelitian ini fokus pada 1) pengaruh pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan strategi ERRQ dalam kemampuan membaca siswa kelas delapan ; 2) perbedaan pengaruh pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan strategi ERRQ dilihat dari jenis teks dalam kemampuan membaca siswa kelas delapan. Metode penelitian ini meliputi. Populasi yang digunakan adalah siswa dari SMP Santo Yoseph Denpasar. Sampel penelitian pada kelas 8 SMP Santo Yoseph Denpasar dengan menggunakan Random Sampling. Data yang dianalisis menggunakan One-Way-ANOVA. Hasil menunjukan bahwa : 1) ada pengaruh signifikan pada pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan strategi ERRQ dalam kemampuan membaca siswa dengan total nilai mean (X: 77.27) (?:0.01) ;2) perbedaan pengaruh pada pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan strategi ERRQ dilihat dari jenis teks dalam kemampuan membaca siswa namanya naratif teks (X 76.47), recoun teks (X:78.78), diskriptif teks (X: 76.83). Kata Kunci : Kemampuan Membaca, Pendekatan Ilmiah, Strategi ERRQ, dan Jenis Teks The problems were focused on the following, they are: 1) the main effect of scientific approach combined with ERRQ strategy on the eighth graders? reading competency, 2) the differences of the effect of scientific approach combined with ERRQ strategy viewed from text types on the eighth graders students? reading competency. The research methods were the following. The population included students at SMP Santo Yoseph Denpasar. The samples were recruited from the eighth grade of SMP Santo Yoseph Denpasar. They were recruited using a Random Sampling. Data were collected by means a Posttest. The obtained data were analyzed by means of One-Way ANOVA. The results show the following: 1) there is a significant effect of scientific approach combined with ERRQ strategy on the students? reading competency which total mean score (X: 77.27) (?: 0.01) ; 2) The differences of the effect of scientific approach combined with ERRQ strategy viewed from text types on the students? reading competency could be arranged consecutively as follows: narrative text (X 76.47), recount text (X:78.78), descriptive text (X: 76.83). keyword : Reading Competency, Scientific Approach, ERRQ Strategy, Text Types

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) pengaruh penerapan Pendekatan Ilmiah yang dikombinasikan dengan gambar-gambar terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa kelas sebelas dilihat dari jenis teks di SMAN 1 Kuta Utara, (2) perbedaan pengaruh penerapan Pendekatan Ilmiah yang dikombinasikan dengan gambar-gambar terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa kelas sebelas dilihat dari jenis teks di SMAN 1 Kuta Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan Post-test-Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMAN 1 Kuta Utara semester 2. Terdapat dua kelas yang digunakan sebagai sampel penelitian. Sampel penelitian yang digunakan yaitu melalui random sampling. Kelas XI MIA 6 ditunjuk sebagai kelas eksperimental dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran Pendekatan IImiah dikombinasikan dengan gambar-gambar. Sementara kelas XI MIA 7 ditunjuk sebagai kelas kontrol yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran Pendekatan Ilmiah saja. Data diperoleh dari tes menulis. Hasil tes tersebut dianalisis dengan menggunakan ANOVA searah. Hasil dari analisis menunjukkan bahwa; (1) terdapat pengaruh penerapan Pendekatan Ilmiah yang dikombinasikan dengan gambar-gambar terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa kelas sebelas dilihat dari jenis teks di SMAN 1 Kuta Utara (? < 0.05), (2) tidak ada perbedaan pengaruh penerapan Pendekatan Ilmiah yang dikombinasikan dengan gambar-gambar terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa kelas sebelas dilihat dari jenis teks di SMAN 1 Kuta Utara (? > 0.05). Penelitian ini menyarankan kepada guru dan siswa untuk menggunakan gambar-gambar di dalam proses belajar mengajar menulis agar siswa mampu menata ide-ide mereka ke dalam bentuk kalimat dan paragraf. Kata Kunci : gambar-gambar, kemampuan menulis, pendekatan ilmiah. Meanwhile, class XI MIA 7 was the control group which was treated by using Scientific Approach only. The data were collected by conducting writing competency test. Post-test was conducted to each experimental and control group. The result of those tests was analyzed by using one way ANOVA. The result of the data showed that; (1) there was a significant effect of Scientific Approach combined with Pictures on the eleventh grade students? writing competency viewed from text genres at SMAN 1 Kuta Utara (? < 0.05), (2) there were no significant differences of the effect of Scientific Approach combined with Pictures on the eleventh grade students? writing competency viewed from text genres at SMAN 1 Kuta Utara (? > 0.05). This research suggests teachers and students to use pictures in teaching and learning of writing process in order students to be able to organize their ideas into sentences or paragraphs. keyword : pictures, scientific approach, writing competency.

Abstract

Involvement of digital information in almost of enterprise sectors makes information having value that must be protected from information leakage. In order to obtain proper method for protecting sensitive information, enterprise must perform risk analysis of threat. However, enterprises often get limitation in measuring risk related information security threat. Therefore, this paper has goal to give approach for estimating risk by using information value. Techniques for measuring information value in this paper are text mining and Jaccard method. Text mining is used to recognize information pattern based on three classes namely high business impact, medium business impact and low business impact. Furthermore, information is given weight by Jaccard method. The weight represents risk levelof information leakage in enterprise quantitatively. Result of comparative analysis with existing method show that proposed method results more detailed output in estimating risk of information security threat.

Abstract

Although writing has been learned by students since they start to learn English language but it still become the most difficult skill to be acquired than speaking, reading and listening. It is possibility caused by the students have limitation of knowledge about writing roles, lack of vocabulary, lack of motivation, lack of master of language structure, and lack of ability in generating a topic. In addition, writing is also called as the most complexity skill and it can be seen from the process of writing, rules that must be followed by students, and the influence of non-linguistics factors during of writing activity. Therefore, students must be serious to acquire this skill. In this article, the writer would like to introduce a suitable approach to teaching writing of English texts through process-genre approach. After reading this article, the writer expects that this article can help English teachers to apply this approach for teaching writing of English texts at Junior and Senior High Schools in Indonesia.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to increase the students’ ability in writing recount text through Language Experience Approach (LEA) at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 5 Dharma Caraka Telukdalam. The research design is classroom action research (Kemmis et al 2014). This action research is conducted into two cycles, and each cycle consists of two meetings. The instruments of data collection are observation papers and written test. The qualitative data are analyzed by using Miles, Huberman, & Saldana’s theory (2014), and quantitative data are analyzed by using Gay et al (2000). The finding is Language Experience Approach increases the students’ ability in writing recount text at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 5 Dharma Caraka Telukdalam. The increasing is supported by the students’ average score that in cycle I is 56.75, and in cycle II is 85.45. It is suggested to English teachers to use LEA as the approach of teaching and learning of writing.
