Abstract

Background: There’s been reported that the use of prednisone increase the occurrence of disease caused by viruses. And so, this study was done to find out the IgG and IgE status in asthmatic bronchial patients who used prednisone. Methods: The immunodiagnostic test applied was the precipitation test. Results: Showed that the average of IgG in asthmatic bronchial patients who used prednisone is 1332,09 mg/dl, less than the average IgG in patients who did not use prednisone. The average of IgE in asthmatic bronchial patients who used prednisone is 4224,0.10-5mg/dl, less than the average of IgE in patients who did not use prednisone. The use of prednisone as a therapy for asthma bronchiale does lower the rate of IgG but that rate is still within the range of normal IgG rate in human body (639 – 1349 mg/dl).Conclusions: So, the use of prednisone can’t make human suffers from diseases cause by viruses just because the use of prednison as a therapy in asthma bronchiale.

Abstract

Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC) is a derivative of cellulose soluble in water. Therefore, CMC easily hydrolyzed into simple sugars by the enzyme cellulase. Snails are animals soft, easy to breed and utilize cellulose as a source of energy and protein content is high enough. Therefore, snails can be used as a source of cellulase enzyme to hydrolyze carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC) This research aims to isolate cellulase enzyme from the snail, Achatina fulica and determine itscharacterization. Glucose levels produced from cellulose enzyme activity were analyzed by using the method Semogy-Nelson. From this research it turns out cellulase enzyme isolated from hepatopankreas snail, Achatina fulica has a specific activity of 2.85 U / mg protein and activity 50oCdan temperature optimum at pH 5.16 and have had kinetic parameters Vm price of 0.23 mg / mLper minute and Km is 0.53 mg / mL. Part enzyme cellulose getting fed at a concentration of 4%.

Abstract

Global warming issue in 21 century this become especial issue. The effect of global warming besides at another phenomenon, like floods, erosion, dryness, increasing temperature of earth, climate change and also its influence to human being, especially for health. Climate change is expected to have considerablke impact on health, and one of the most important is waterborne diseases. Weather influences the transport and dissemination of the microbial agents via rainfall and runoff and survival and/or growth such factors as temperature. Knowledge about transport processes and fate of microbial pollutants associated with rainfall and snowmelt is key to predicting risk from change in weather variability. Water-borne diseases can be infected by many routes of exposure, as well as individual or population susceptibility, to waterborne pathogens, with water quality, avaibility, sanitation, and hygiene all playing a role.More than 100 types of pathogenic bacteria, viruses, and prozoa can be found in contaminated water.

Abstract

Anthrax is a zoonosis disease caused by Bacillus anthracis bacteria. This bacteria is able to produce an endospora that lasts for decades inside the soil and thus becomes an infection source (endemic areas), causing difficulties to eradicate this disease in Indonesia. This disease mainly infects cattle such as cows, goats, horses, and pigs in some cases. It can also infect humans through three ways which is per cutaneous, per oral, and per inhalation. The clinical manifestations in humans are malignant pustule, hematemesis, pneumonia hemorrhagic or meningitis. The success of eradicating anthrax from humans fully depends on the eradication of this disease from the animals.
