Abstract

Background: There’s been reported that the use of prednisone increase the occurrence of disease caused by viruses. And so, this study was done to find out the IgG and IgE status in asthmatic bronchial patients who used prednisone.Methods: The immunodiagnostic test applied was the precipitation test.Results: Showed that the average of IgG in asthmatic bronchial patients who used prednisone is 1332,09 mg/dl, less than the average IgG in patients who did not use prednisone. The average of IgE in asthmatic bronchial patients who used prednisone is 4224,0.10-5mg/dl, less than the average of IgE in patients who did not use prednisone. The use of prednisone as a therapy for asthma bronchiale does lower the rate of IgG but that rate is still within the range of normal IgG rate in human body (639 – 1349 mg/dl).Conclusions: So, the use of prednisone can’t make human suffers from diseases cause by viruses just because the use of prednison as a therapy in asthma bronchiale.

Abstract

Genes that promote autonomous cell growth in cqncer cells are called oncogenes, and their normal cellular counterparts are called protooncogenes. Protooncogenes are physiologic regulators of cell proliferation and differentiation,oncogenes are characterized by the ability to promote cell growth in the absence of normal mitogenic signals. Their products, called oncoproteins, resemble the normal products of protooncogenes with the exception that oncoproteins are devoid of important regulatory elements.Their production in the transformed cells becomes constitutive, that is, not dependent on growth factors or other external signal. Each of the cancer genes has a specific function, the dysregulation of which contributes to the origin or progression of malignancy. It traditional to describe cancer- causing genes on the basis of their presumed function.Mutations in genes that regulate these cellular traits are seen in every cancer. However, the precise genetic pathways that give rise to these attributes differ between cancers, even within the same orhan. It is widely believed that the occurrence of mutations in cancer-causing genes is conditioned by the robustness of the DNA repair machinery of the cell. When genes that normally sense andrepair DNA demage are impaired or lost, thevresultant genomic instability favors mutations in genes that regulate the other acquired capabilities of cancer cells.

Abstract

Nosocomial infections of the urinary tract are the most common nosocomial infections. Infectious diseases currently pose a life threatening due to the increasing phenomenon of infectious agent resistance. One of the factors known to cause resistance to broad-spectrum antimicrobials agent is the susceptibility to biofilm formation. The use of silver nanoparticles (NPs) is now regarded as one of the most promising strategies to target infections associated with biofilms. This study aims to determine the application of nanotechnology in the form of metal nanoparticles in targeting the formation of biofilms on infectious agents. The antibacterial and antibiofilm activity test was performed on a 96-well microtiter plate on uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) at concentrations of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 ppm. The results showed the addition of silver and gold nanoparticles at different concentrations affected and inhibited the growth of UPEC and prevented the formation of biofilms, as indicated by a decrease in the OD value. In conclusion, silver and gold nanoparticles have antibacterial and antibiofilm effects on UPEC.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Karies gigi merupakan penyakit gigi dan mulut yang paling sering terjadi di Indonesia oleh karena beberapa faktor seperti sikap dan perilaku masyarakat yang kurang menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Kebersihan gigi dan mulut ini dapat dilakukan individu dengan cara menggosok gigi. Tujuan Penelitian: untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat pengetahuan siswa tentang kesehatan gigi dengan kejadian karies gigi pada siswa Sekolah Dasar Dukuh Kupang Surabaya. Bahan dan Metode: Dari keseluruhan siswa kelas IV dan V yaitu sebanyak 106 orang SDN Dukuh Kupang Surabaya diambil sampel sebanyak 52 siswa. Tingkat pengetahuan diambil dari kuesioner dengan kategori baik, sedang, dan rendah, sedangkan kejadian karies diukur dengan DMF-T Indeks dengan kategori tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Analisis data menggunakan metode uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil: Pada penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai Sig.=0,001 (<0,05), dimana dari 100% siswa dengan pengetahuan kesehatan yang kurang diketahui sebanyak 80% memiliki status karies gigi yang tinggi, sedangkan dari 100% siswa dengan pengetahuan gigi yang baik diketahui sebanyak 83,3% siswa berstatus karies yang rendah. Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan tingkat pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dengan kejadian karies gigi pada siswa Sekolah Dasar Dukuh Kupang Surabaya.

Abstract

Indonesia's natural wealth is very abundant in the form of flora and fauna that can be developed as raw materials for medicine. Honey in Indonesia is very diverse from Sabang to Merauke. Different types of honey are influenced by regional origin, season at harvest, type of bee, type of plant source of nectar, way of life of bees (cultivated or wild), harvesting method and post-harvest handling. This study aims to determine the characteristics of forest bee honey and cultivated honey and to determine the potential of honey as an antibacterial in the treatment of infectious diseases caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia Coli bacteria. The materials used were Carisa honey samples from Wild honey [Wild Klanceng and Wild Cerana] and Cultivation [Cerana Cultivation], S. aureus and E. coli bacteria. The characteristic test method is in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard and the honey inhibition test against the growth of S. aureus and E. Coli bacteria using the diffusion method. The results showed that Wild Cerana (WC) and Wild Klanceng (WK) honey demonstrated higher water content, ash content, acidity and glucose from Cerana Cultivated (CC) honey. Carissa Honey (beside Cerana cultivated honey) had antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. Coli at different concentrations. Wild Wild Honey has the highest antibacterial activity compared to other types of honey. Conclusion Indonesian wild honey showed weak antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Meanwhile, honey that is cultivated does not have antibacterial activity.

Abstract

A potentially fatal non-communicable disease is hypertension. Important organs like the brain, heart, kidneys, retina, big blood vessels (aorta), and peripheral blood vessels are in danger for harm as a result. Heart attacks and even death can result from hypertension. By avoiding and managing risk factors like smoking, sedentary lifestyles, a lack of fruits and vegetables, and obesity, it is crucial to work towards lowering the risk of hypertension. This study's objectives were to assess blood pressure and establish the profile of antihypertensive medicine use. Methods: Data for this retrospective analysis were gathered based on information from patient pharmacy records and medical records. Results: 33.7% hypertension sufferers aged 65-74 years, 62.2% women and 37.8% men, 38.9% The beta-blocker drug group with the drug that is often used Bisoprolol dose of 2.5 mg as much as 26.9 %, 88% in tablet dosage form, which is used in combination form with the rule of using once a day and 64.3% controlled hypertension. This is a retrospective study that obtained data based on medical record information and patient pharmacy data. Conclusion: Hypertension patients are usually aged between 65-74 years, mostly female. Antihypertensive drugs that are often used are in the beta blocker class which is a Bisoprolol dose of 2.5 mg in tablet, used in a single dose or/and combination. Sixty-four point three percent (64.3%) of patients have controlled hypertension.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Anemia merupakan penurunan proporsi sel darah merah. Hasil Riskesdas tahun 2018, prevalensi anemia pada remaja putri sebesar 32%. Anemia memiliki dampak jangka pendek (penurunan daya tahan tubuh, kurangnya oksigen ke sel otot dan sel otak) dan dampak jangka (gangguankehamilan). Skring merupakan upaya untuk mendeteksi secara dini suatu kondisi atau penyakit guna memberi saran perubahan gaya hidup untuk mengurangi risiko atau mengobatinya dengan paling efektif. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengetahui kadar haemoglobin dan meningkatnya pengetahuan tentang anemia pada kader putri posyandu remaja Mojo Surabaya. Kegiatan pengabdian ini terlaksana pada hari Minggu tanggal 10 September 2023 di balai RW 5 Mojo, dihadiri oleh 20 peserta (kader putri), dilakukan dengan metode pemeriksaan dan metode konsultasi kesehatan terkait anemia oleh dokter spesialis. Pengukuran tingkat pengetahuan dasar peserta dilakukan melalui pengisian kuisioner dan pengukuran kadar Hb dilakukan dengan menggunakan Easy Touch Blood Hemoglobin. Hasil pengukuran tingkat pengetahuan dasar peserta menunjukkan 45% peserta memiliki pengetahuan SEDANG dan 55% peserta memiliki pengetahuan BAIK tentang anemia. Hasil pengukuran kadar Hb disampaikan secara langsung kepada peserta dan dilanjurkan dengan konsultasi kesehatan kepada dokter spesialis.

Abstract

Anemia masih menjadi masalah kesehatan global yang dapat meningkatkan angka morbiditas dan mortalitas pada ibu dan bayi. Ibu hamil yang mengalami anemia memiliki risiko lebih tinggi untuk mengalami perdarahan saat melahirkan, yang dapat berujung pada kematian. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mencari hubungan antara paritas dan jarak kehamilan dengan kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil trismester III di Puskesmas Purwosari Kabupaten Pasuruan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analitik dengan rancangan penelitian kuantitatif melalui pendekatan cross sectional study. Sampel adalah ibu hamil trimester III yang memeriksakan kehamilannya di Puskesmas Purwosari Kabupaten Pasuruan sebanyak 86 sampel dengan variabel terikat yaitu anemia dan variabel bebas adalah paritas dan jarak kehamilan kemudian data di analisis dengan uji Chi-Square. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan 40 orang ibu hamil yang mengalami anemia dengan paritas berisiko sebanyak 9 orang dan dengan jarak kehamilan berisiko sebanyak 12 orang, dari hasil uji chi square didapatkan p-value 0,012 atara paritas dengan kejadian anemia , dan p-value 0,013 antara jarak kehamilan dengan kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil trimester III di Puskesmas Purwosari Kabupaten Pasuruan. Terdapat hubungan antara kadar paritas dan jarak kehamilan dengan kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil trimester III di Puskesmas Purwosari Kabupaten Pasuruan.
