Abstract

Abstract

Terror movements are motivated by psychological, economic, cultural, politics and religious problems. This is a complex problem. But, it becomes more sensitive when religious motivation is involved in it. Nevertheless, terrorism is a human problem that urges all people and the institutions of the state and religions to discover solutions. As in Indonesia, all people are both citizens and members of religions, it is important to realize and get a concrete way against terrorism. What then is the role of religions and the state to overcome the problem of terorrism? How do religions and the state actualize their role against terrorism? Overcoming the problem of terrorism is the first step for developing a peaceful social life. The following step is to promote humanity. However, the state and religions have the same responsibility in educating all people to live universal values such as fraternity, peace, justice, and reciprocal respect and help as way of life.

Abstract

In his double treatise, Contra Gentes and De Incarnatione, Athanasius proposes a Logos Christology from the soteriological perspective. According to him, Christ is the Logos of God, Father’s proper ‘offspring’, the only Father’s Begotten Son, the ‘Unchanging Image’ of the Father. Christ as the Logos of God does God’s works, both Creation, Providence and Salvation’s works. In His Salvation work, by the works indicated through His human body, Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Logos, does the God’s works, reveals God ‘who is good’, ‘who is the lover of humanity’, to human that fall into sin. Jesus surrenders His own body as an offering and a sacrifice for the sake of salvation of all creation.

Abstract

Generally, in this digital era, some concerns arise relating to assistance to young people. Mentoring process is not as easy as that done at 4 or 5 decades ago. The situation is more concerned by the monastic community which is to support the values “and way of life which is contrary to the values” offered by the modern world today. The current generation does have characteristics which is different from the generation that lived in the 40s. The current generation faces challenges that make them much more difficult to persevere in the vision and commitment. By the time the situation is almost instantaneous, offering various facilities, and highly hedonic, who unwittingly caused the split of the self. This condition requires an approach that enables them to manage themselves better. Multisensory approach in learning process, self processing and spiritual exercise, as well as therapeutic community is a way offered to help them reflect and measure themselves.

Abstract

This article presents contextual arguments on the social problems addressed by the Catholic Church. The thought was developed in the 19th century with its industrialization that caused an enormous social as well as technological change, and that aimed a great social welfare. Unfortunately, industrialization was not identical with merely a social progress. Ideology such as liberalism or communism was conflictive and socially problematic. The victims have been the workers with their family amid the weakening of system of education, healthcare, morality and sense of faith. Involvement and intervention of the nation was supported by thinkers such as philosophers, experts in economy and politic as well as theologians and practitioners. Catholic Church with its option for the poor has based her vision on the fundamental commitment to human dignity, sacredness of life as well as the social nature of human being. Rerum Novarum, the encyclical letter of pope Leo XIII, presented a very significant insights concerning the world of workers, of policy makers, factory owners and people from human rights watch.
