Abstract

Indonesia is endowed with abundant  natural wealth capable of being transformed into an energy source. However, until now the utilization of natural resources can not be optimally processed. One alternative solution to make the fuel as a substitute for LPG is to fuel the briquettes. The general purpose of this research is the manufacture of briquettes from waste  materials such as rice husk and garlic skin. While the specific purpose of this research is to know the characteristic of proximate briquettes such as: water content, ash content, fixed carbon, volatile matter, and calorie briquettes, variations of glue composition glue 200, 250, 300 gram, kanji starch composition 20, 30, and 40 gram and paper pulp 50 w / w and 100 w / w of total weight of adhesive 20 gram, and jelantah cooking oil. Methods in this research are experimental approaches such as, making briquettes, and testing the characteristics of briquettes. The results of research on water content, ash content, fixed carbon, volatile matter and calorific briquettes of rice husk huskers were 33,493%, 39,966%, 29,058%, 30,923% and 3873,500 kal / gram respectively. While the characteristics of garlic skin briquettes produced the highest price respectively 35.986%, 9.650%, 42.373%, 34.479%, and 4783.654 cal / gram. Keywords: Characteristics of briquettes, rice husk, garlic skin.

Abstract

At this time the 3-phase induction motors are needed in many areas including  small industries and in areas  having  only 1-phase electrical system. The area requires a motor  with a large driving force that can be operated with both normal and 1-phase  electrical system. An induction motor can work  ineither  normal  configuration  or modified configuration with  adding a series  of  capacitor motors in 3-phase induction motor. The series capacitors are used  with an auxiliary coil is placed on the side or sides of the coil which has a larger impedance. In this study,  the performance of 3-phase induction motors  is supported  with 1-phase electrical system coupled with the ACS758 current sensor . This coupling is  to measure the current value of the load being used. When the ACS758 current sensor detects  the passing current, it will display  the current value on the LCD which  facilitates  the user in the current value of the measured reading. Induction motor can work well and normal with 1-phase electrical system using a series of capacitor motors. Measurement with current sensor has an error less than 2%.Keywords: 3-phase induction motor, 1-phase electrical system, LCD

Abstract

The position of the sun in the sky  always  changes  periodically.  A  lot of research has been doneto follow the sun's motion using a solar tracking system to increase the amount of solar energy that can be absorbed. The solar tracking system can be grouped into passive and active system. Active sun tracker system uses motor drive in following the motion of the sun. The current active tracking system is using one or two rotary axis. Active two-axis solar tracking system provides greater efficiency and effectiveness than one-axis solar tracking system. This study aims to increase the absorbable sun energy with a simpletwo-axis solar tracking system. This research has been  done by experimental method by making a model of two-axis sun tracker and  its field  data retrieval. The main parts of the model in this study are (1) LDR sensor, (2) microcontroller and  (3) motor drive.  Initial data of field test results shows  a maximum increase (269%) in absorbable solar energy on a model using a sun tracker than models that d o not use a solar tracking systemKeywords: tracker, sun, two-axis rotate, simple

Abstract

The new student registration process begins with the process of filling out  the registration form where to get it, the prospective student pays to get the form. Sanata Dharma University cooperates with the bank to develop an application to  pay registration form with web service technology. The advantage of this technology is electronic  service  and can work 24 hours. Web service technology is a service that allows communication between machines performed through a computer network with HTTP protocol web server. The web service application was developed and implemented by Sanata Dharma University and CIMB Niaga bank in October 2017. From the observation of January 2018 compared to January 2017, the January 2018 transaction increased by about 12% compared to January 2017. The proportion of web service transactions is around 30% of total transactions where 80% of them are conducted outside office hours. This data indicates that the knowledge of electronics services of prospective students and their parents is good enough. Keywords: web service, registration form, new students

Abstract

In general, the present attendance system is using a paper  file containing the signature column of the participating students and lecturers of the course. The problem that arises is the presence of signature due to the student's absence. Students in one sem ester must attend lectures as much as 75% of meetings held lecturers as the requirement to take the final exam of the semester. Student attendance calculations take a relatively long time for each course. For that in this research made  cource attendance system based on radio frequency identification (RFID) and fingerprint. As RFID card used e -ID card.  The result  showed that the maximum e-KTP card reading distance of 2 cm and fingerprint ID reading with time between 1.945 to 2.227 seconds. The  success rate of reading e-KTP card and fingerprint ID is 100%. The overall test of attendance system shows 100% success rate. Presence data is displayed in the GUI and stored in database and exported in .xls format. Keywords: RFID, Fingerprint, Presence, Visual Basic 6.0, MySQL, Arduino Mega 2560

Abstract

A common way to increase the efficiency of distillation of solar energy is by cooling the cover glass. The method of cooling glass that is widely studied is the spray method. Spray method still has a weakness that is not the  entire surface of the glass can be wetted cooling water. The water reservoir method allows wettage of the entire surface of the cover glass so that the cooling process can be better. This study aims to increase the efficiency of the distillation of solar  energy water by cooling the cover glass using a water reservoirs method. Parameters varied during this experimental stage are: the cooling water mass rate. Parameters measured were: (1) absorber temperature, (2) cover glass temperature, (3) cooling water temperature, (4) input water temperature, (5) ambient air temperature, (6) distilled water, 7) solar energy coming and (8) data recording time. The conclusions of this study were: the largest distillate water yield obtained was 3.26 liter / (hari.m2) with an average efficiency of 41.0%. Distilled water yield and best efficiency are obtained at cooling water rate of 7.1 liter / hour. The temperature difference between the absorber and the largest glass is 11.4°CKeywords: cooling, water distillation, solar energy, water reservoirs

Abstract

This research trained Deep Convolutional Networks(ConvNets)  to classify hand-written Pallava alphabet.    The  Deep ConvNets  architecture consists of two  convolutional layers, each  followed by maxpooling layer,    two  Fully-Connected layers.  It had  442.602  parameters.  This model classified  660 imagesof hand-written Pallava alphabet into 33 diferent classes.  To make training faster, this research  used GPU implementation with 384  CUDA  cores. Two different techniques were implemented, Stochastic Gradient Descent  (SGD)  and Adaptive Gradient, each trained with 10, 20, 30 and 40 epoch. The best accuracy was 67,5%, achieved by the model with SGD technique trained at 30 epoch. Keywords: Deep ConvNets, Pallava, GPU, SGD
