Abstract

                                                  ABSTRACTION      In dieser Untersuchung wird über die Bedeutung und die Position von Adverbien im Jugendmagazin beschrieben. Die Untersuchung hat die Ziele um die Bedeutung und die Position der deutschen Adverbien zu identifizieren, zu klassifizieren und zu anaylsieren. Die Datenquelle werden vom Jugenmgazin gesammelt. Um dieser Untersuchung zu identifizieren, klassifizieren, und analysieren benutzt der Schreiber die deskriptive Methode von Pelz. Die theoretische Grundlage dieser Untersuchung wird von der Meinungen von Helbig & Buscha und Amann/Nietsch genommen. Helbig/Buscha unterteilt die Bedeutung von Adverbien in vier Kategorien, d.h. (1) lokal, (2) temporal, (3) modal, und (4) kausal. Für die Position gibt es nach Amann/Nietsch vier Typen: (1) die Adverbien, die vor dem Verb erscheinen, (2) die Adverbien, die nach dem Substantiv erscheinen und (3) die Adverbien, die vor dem Adjektive erscheinen. Die Ergebnisse dieser Untersuchung zeigen, dass die vier Kategorien der Bedeutung der Adverbien und die drei Position der Adverbien in dieser Untersuchung gefunden werden. Die gefundenen Daten von Lokaladverbien sind 10 Daten. Temporaladverbien sind 18 Daten, Modaladverbien sind 8 Daten, und Kausaladverbien sind 5 Daten. Für die Position der Adverbien, die gefundenen Daten sind: (1) die Adverbien, vor dem Verb erscheinen sind 25 Daten, (2) die Adverbien, die nach dem Substantiv erscheinen sind 20 Daten und (3) die Adverbien, die vor dem Adjektive erscheinen sind 15 Daten.Stichwörter: Adverbien, Bedeutung, Position

Abstract

                                                   ABSTRACT             This research entitled An Analysis Lexical Cohesion in Podcast “If You Keep Your Mouth Shut, You’ll Be Surprised What You Can Learn” Podcast By S.Town is the requirement to accomplish the Bachelor Degree at Faculty of Humanities, Sam Ratulangi University. The objectives of this research are to identify,clasify and analyze descriptively the aspects of lexical cohesion on the Podcast S.Town. The theory used in this research is from Halliday and Hasan (1976). The theory focused on the aspects of lexical cohesion. The lexical cohesion consisted of reiteration (repetition, synonym, antonym, hyponym, meronymy) and collocation. The Podcast is taken from one of podcast episode in www.Stownpodcast.com. The result of this research shows that there are 53 lexical cohesion items consisting of 47 reiteration (15 repetition, 8 synonimy, 8 antonimy, 11 meronimy, and 5 hyponimy) and 6 colocation items.Keyword: Cohesion, Lexical, Podcast

Abstract

                                                  ABSTRACT       This research is entitled “Striving for Superiority of August as Seen in Wonder Film” is intended as a requirement to accomplish the bachelor’s degree at Faculty of Humanities Sam Ratulangi University Manado. This research focus on the psychological condition of August, the actions striving for superiority of August. The purposes of this research are to identify, classify, analyze, and describe the striving for superiority actions of August and the factor that causes the striving for superiority of August. This research used descriptive qualitative method by Bogdan and Biklen (1982). In identifying, classifying, and analyzing the data, the writer used two theories of individual psychology by Adler to analyze the striving for superiority and to analyze the factor causes striving for superiority by Adler (in Boeree, 2005:135). The results of this research are August did two actions striving for superiority, that are compensation and superiority complex. The factor that causes the striving for superiority of August is an action for filling of a desire and potential, which encourages for attaining of a goal.Keywords: Superiority, Inferiority, Wonder, Psychology

Abstract

                                                   ABSTRACT       This research entitles “Sign Analysis in the movie Shazam! by David Sandberg. The aims of this research are to identify and classify the types of signs as well as to analyze the meaning of signs used in Shazam! movie. The writer uses the theory of Pierce (1955) in the process of identifying, classifying, and analyzing each scene containing the signs used the representament aspect. The method used in this study is descriptive method. To finish this study, the writer read some concepts related to the title about sign analysis and also downloaded resources from the internet. In collecting the data, the writer has watched 14 times Shazam! movie which is the object of the research. In addition to watching, the writer took pieces of image or visuals (screenshoot) from the movie scenes that are needed for research. The result of this research shows that based on the theory of Pierce there were 27 scenes in Shazam! movie, all of these scenes focus on Billy’s life and his family and in the 27 scenes there are 11 icons, 13 index, and 4 symbols. each sign had a different meanings._______________________________Keywords: Sign Analysis, Shazam! Abstract

                                                    ABSTRACT      This study entitled “Illocutionary Act in the Gospel of Matthew: A Pragmatic Analysis”. The method that is used in this research is descriptive method. The purpose of this study is to identify, classify and analyze the kinds and functions of ilocutionary act in the Gospel of Matthew. The collected data have been analyzed by using theory of Searle (1979) in Leech (1983). There are four kinds of illocutionary act in the Gospel of Matthew, those are assertives, directives, commisives, and declaratives. While expressives were not spoken by the characters in the Gospel of Matthew. The illocutionary functions of assertives in this Gospel are stating, another functions as, asserting, suggesting, complaining, reporting were not found in the verses of the Gospel of Matthew, the illocutionary functions of directives which were used by Jesus, His disciples, and other characters were requesting, commanding, advising, asking. ordering and recommending function are not found in the Gospel of Matthew. The illocutionary functions of commisives is promising. While functions like uttering are not stated, the illocutionary functions of declaration which are used in the Gospel of Matthew are granting and naming. Functions of promoting and punishing were not found in the Gospel of Matthew. The significance of this research is to give contribution of the language development in linguistic study especially in analyzing illocutionary act through pragmatic analysis. Keywords: Illocutionary Act, Kinds and Functions, Gospel of Matthew.

Abstract

SIGARLAKI, S.S., M.Hum2                            Dr. ISNAWATY L. WATASEN, S.S., M.Hum3     This research is entitled “Tone in A.E Housman Poems”, the topic that focused on five poems based on purposive sampling. The objective of this research is to identify, clasify and analyze the data also describe the tone in figurative language of those poems. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. The data were taken from A.E Housman poems, and in analyzing the data, it used theory by Laurence Perrine (2018; 863), and the theory also support by Edgar Roberts (1983: 138). The result of this research shows that the tones in A.E Housman poems consist of; praise, death, optimistic, worship, sympathy, cynic, sad, and antipathy. These are illustrated by; connotation, imagery, understatement, irony, metaphor, personificatio, and sinedoke.----------------------------------------------Keywords: Tone in poems, Figurative Language, Alfred Edwar Housman.

Abstract

                                                    ABSTRACT      The title of this research is “Konjungsi dalam Kitab Yosua”. It is written to identify, classify and analyze the forms, functions and meanings of conjunctions in The Book of Joshua in The Bible. The method that is used in this research is descriptive method and the data of conjunctions were taken from The Book of Joshua in The Bible. The data have been analyzed by using theory of Aarts and Aaarts (1982) and Quirk and Greenbaum (1999). The result of this research shows the forms, functions and meanings of conjunctions in The Book of Joshua in The Bible. The forms that have been found namely coordinating conjunctions that consist of and, or, for, but and subordinating conjunctions that consist of that, if, as, because, until, when, where, after and before. The functions that have been found are coordinating conjunctions connect sentences, phrases and words, and subordinanting conjunctions connect sentences, clauses and phrases. The meanings that have been found are coordinating conjunctions express sequence of ideas, one clause/idea as a result of another, alternative combination, sequential implication, unexpected contrast and express affirmative to what is stated negatively in the first section, and subordinating conjunctions express clause and sentence that express reason or purpose, effect of something that will happen, statement which express something that is being mentioned, reason, something that is happening, point of something that happen, place of something that happen, something that happen later at a time and express the meaning earlier than the time of event.⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺Keywords: Conjunctions, Forms, Functions and Meanings, The Book of Joshua

Abstract

                                                   ABSTRAK      Skripsi ini membahas unsur intrinsik novel Pijaki Langit Mengetuk Pintu Surga karya Novelyzius. Unsur-unsur yang dianalisis adalah tema, plot atau alur, tokoh atau penokohan, latar, sudut pandang, dan amanat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, melakukan penafsiran dengan menyajikan data dalam bentuk deskripsi. Teknik penelitian yang digunakan adalah pengumpulan data, analisis data, dan penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan analisis disimpulkan bahwa novel Pijaki Langit Mengetuk Pintu Surga memiliki tema cinta dan pengorbanan. Alur cerita yang digunakan alur gabungan (maju dan mundur), memiliki dua tokoh utama, yaitu Rhe dan Uttara, latar tempat yang digunakan, yaitu di rumah Rhe, kampus, di bawah pohon, depan mall, jalanan kota Jakarta, di atas gedung, sekolah, di halte bus, tokoh buku, di kosan, di kafe. Latar waktu yang digunakan, yaitu pagi, siang, sore, dan malam. Sudut pandang yang digunakan adalah sudut pandang orang ketiga, dan orang pertama. Gaya bahasa yang digunakan personifikasi dan hiperbola. Memiliki pesan atau amanat mengenai kehidupan yang mengasihi semua orang. Semua unsur yang terdapat dalam novel Pijaki Langit Mengetuk Pintu Surga saling berkaitan dan berhubungan.Kata Kunci : Analisis unsur intrinsik, metode kualitatif, novel Pijaki Langit Mengetuk Pintu Surga.
