"SANGKHAKALA" refers to the shell horns that blown regularly to convey certain messages. In accordance with the meaning, this journal expected to become an instrument in the dissemination of archaeological information to the public which is published on an ongoing basis. Berkala Arkeologi Sangkhakala is a peer-reviewed journal published biannual by the Balai Arkeologi Sumatera Utara in May and November. The first edition was published in 1997 and began to be published online in an e-journal form using the Open Journal System tool in 2015. Berkala Arkeologi Sangkhakala aims to publish research papers, reviews and studies covering the disciplines of archeology, anthropology, history, ethnography, and culture in general.

Abstract

Stamps and Seals are tools that used as a decisive validity of issued by the empire, institution, trading house and individual. Its existence was the evidence of the authority legitimation, as a symbol that there was a confermed a nobility’s degree upon a foreigner and also showed the changing of the bureaucracy structure because of the new political power.

Abstract

Togi Bogi's one of the caves which located up to the hill around 75 metres from the surface of the sea. There was also an archaeological remains such as artefact and ecofact inside it, that had the same characteristics which was found in Togi Ndrawa’s cave. From the excavation, it’s found mollusk and other lithics that described the culture of the megalithic’s area. The result of the dating analysis using radiocarbon method on the mollusk and cinder indicated the activities at Togi bogi's cave, Nias was about on 4960 ± 130 BP untill 950 ±110 BP

Abstract

The complex of Laksamana Malahayati’s grave is in Desa Lamreh, Kecamatan Mesjid Raya, Kabupaten Aceh Besar. As a symbol of respecting and the meaning of her war, its location is in hilltop and protected by wall. It’s winged and unwinged slab gravestone type with longfeet square. In her life, Laksamana Malahayati was known as a brave admiral when marched against Portuguese and Dutch in Malaka Straits. One of her great contribution was when she formed a single troop consists of some widows (known as Inong Balee and Benteng Inong Balee) fight against the imperialism.

Abstract

AbstractGBKP Kuta Jurung is a protestant church for Batak Karo community in Kuta Jurung, Deli Serdang - Norh Sumatera. In Agust 2006, Balar Medan have found a christian old grave in there who have guessed that a missionary buried in it. This is a new data that will needed in the future for investigation more complete about the history of missionaries who had done their service for Karonese since 19th century.

Abstract

The data which we found on maritime archaeology resulted several information The benefit of the result of maritime archaeology and the history sources would be done by identifying the prehistory of archipelago boat. It was regarding the benefit of: a. tied-up technique b. the combination of tied-up and peg technique, c. peg technique and other techniques which is used in boat production as a water transportation. In addition to the grouping of the technology of boat production, it could be known an chronological aspect.
