Abstract

The aim of the present research is to figure out the reproductive effort of Nerita japonica occurring in three different intertidal habitats of Amakusa Shimoshima Island, western Kyushu, Japan. Rocky shore population and other two stony shore populations (the upper stony shore and the lower stony shore) were described based on: (a) its mean mature gonad dry weight, (b) reproductive effort, and (c) the relationship between reproductive effort and body size. Data recorded in the period of spawning season. The results revealed that there were mean mature gonad dry weight and reproductive effort variations among three snail populations. Mean mature gonad dry weight and reproductive effort were larger for the Rocky shore population, intermediate for lower stone shore population, and smaller for the upper stone shore population. In one out of three populations, i.e., the upper stone shore population, reproductive effort of mature females increased significantly with an increase in body size. The data showed that reproductive effort is related to adult body size of N. japonica. There was an intraspecific variation in reproductive effort among three populations of N. japonica over even small geographic distances. Keywords: mature body size, mature gonad dry weight, reproductive effort, intraspecific variation, Nerita japonica.  Variasi Indeks Kematangan Gonad Interspesies pada Tiga Populasi Gastropoda Intertidal, Nerita japonica (Dunder)) Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan indeks kematangan gonad dari gastropoda intertidal, Nerita japonica yang hidup di tiga habitat yang berbeda di Pulau Shimoshima Amakusa, Kyushu bagian barat, Jepang. Parameter yang diamati pada setiap populasi adalah: (a) nilai rata-rata berat kering gonad matang, (b) indeks kematangan gonad, dan (c) hubungan antara indeks kematangan gonad dan ukuran tubuh. Data dicatat pada periode musim pemijahan. Ketiga populasi memperlihatkan nilai rata-rata berat kering gonad yang matang dan indeks kematangan gonad yang berbeda. Populasi pantai berbatu memiliki nilai rata-rata berat kering matang gonad dan indeks kematangan gonad yang paling besar, diikuti oleh nilai dari populasi pantai berbatu bagian bawah dan populasi pantai berbatu bagian atas memiliki nilai yang paling kecil. Selanjutnya, satu dari tiga populasi, yaitu populasi pantai berbatu bagian atas memperlihatkan indeks kematangan gonad dari individu-individu betina N. japonica berhubungan dengan ukuran tubuhnya. Sekalipun indeks kematangan gonad dari individu-individu N. japonica meningkat secara signifikan dengan bertambahnya ukuran tubuh, namun terdapat variasi intraspesifik pada N. japonica dalam hal indeks kematangan gonad menurut habitat walaupun secara geografis berdekatan.Kata kunci: ukuran tubuh matang kelamin, berat kering gonad matang, indeks kematangan gonad, variasi intraspesifik, Nerita japonica.

Abstract

Overfishing and environmental degradation from fishing activities result in changes in aquatic ecosystems, and almost all fishing gears could cause habitat damages. This study attempted to evaluate the impact of different fishing gears utilized by traditional fishermen on the fish resources and their habitats and formulate an environmenttal friendly fishing fisheries concept. Data collection used two approaches, through a long-term catch analysis and a direct field observation on the fishing process. Results found that several fishing gears used were potential to cause damages on bottom habitats due to the operational technique and the treatment to the gear itself. Beside that, some gears were also potential to unbalance the stability and the the sustainability of the fish resources due to the utilization of excessively small-sized mesh. Based on the internal factor analysis strategy (IFAS) and the external factor analysis strategy (EFAS), the use of fish traps, circling gill nets, and turtle targeting hand lines in the coral reef area we­re potential to cause direct negative impact on the coral reefs and the sustainability of the fish resources.Keywords: impact, habitat damage, resources damage, over fishing, selectivity.   Kelebihan tangkap dan degradasi lingkungan dari kegiatan perikanan mengakibatkan perubahan ekosistem perairan dan hampir semua alat tangkap ikan dapat menyebabkan kerusakan habitat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi dampak alat tangkap yang digunakan oleh nelayan di perairan pantai Tabukan Tengah, Kabupaten Kepulauan Sangihe terhadap sumberdaya dan lingkungan dan merumuskan konsep kebijakan pengembangan perikanan tangkap yang ramah lingkungan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan dua pendekatan yakni menganalisis hasil tangkapan untuk jangka waktu yang panjang dan pengamatan langsung terhadap proses penangkapan ikan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa beberapa alat tangkap yang digunakan berpotensi merusak habitat dasar perairan karena tehnik pengoperasiannya dan perlakuan terhadap alat tangkap tersebut. Di samping itu, beberapa jenis alat tangkap berpotensi merobah stabilitas dan keberlangsungan sumberdaya ikan karena penggunaan mata jaring berukuran sangat kecil. Berdasarkan strategi analisis faktor internal dan strategi analisis faktor eksternal, maka penggunaan bubu ikan, jaring insang lingkar, jala lempar dan ladung penyu di daerah terumbu karang memiliki dampak negatif bagi terumbu karang dan keberlanjutan sumberdaya ikan. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efek suplementasi ekstrak air jahe pada oksidasi lipida daging ikan tuna yang disimpan selama 9 hari. Oksidasi lipida ikan tuna beku dievaluasi berdasarkan nilai bilangan peroksida dan pembentukan malonaldehyde (nilai TBA) pada hari ke 0, 3, 6 dan 9 penyimpanan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi ekstrak air jahe meningkatkan stabilitas ikan tuna beku terhadap oksidasi lipida dibandingkan dengan kontrol. Ekstrak air jahe 2% dan 3% lebih efektif dalam menghambat oksidasi lipida daging ikan tuna selama penyimpanan dibandingkan ekstrak air jahe 1%. Kata kunci: Tuna, ekstrak jahe, antioksidan, penyimpanan dingin, peroksida, malonaldehid.Inhibition of Tuna Lipid Oxidation by Ginger Extract during Refrigeration The effects of ginger extract supplementation on lipid oxidation of raw tuna during refrigerated storage for 9 days were examined. Lipid oxidation was assessed by monitoring peroxide and malonaldehyde formation in raw tuna at 0, 3, 6 and 9 days of refrigerated storage. Results showed that all ginger extracts treatments significantly increased the stability of frozen tuna to lipid oxidation compared with the control. Ginger extracts of 2% and 3% was more effective in inhibiting lipid oxidation of raw tuna than 1% extract. Keywords: Tuna, ginger extract, antioxidant, refrigerate storage, peroxide, malonaldehyde.

Abstract

The study was aimed at knowing the feasibility of the waters of Dodinga Bay for seaweed; Kappaphycus alvarezii culture development.  The study used a survey method covering aquatic physical, chemical and biological parameters.  Result showed that physical, chemical and biological parameters fulfilled the criteria for the seaweed growth. Based on the suitability of the water used in this study, Dodinga Bay waters was categorized as S-2 class or having median suitability criteria, i.e. the water possessed moderate threshold for seaweed culture or had animal effect on the aquatic environmental quality, and could still be utilized for seaweed culture development under several technical prerequisites. Keywords: Kappaphycus alvarezii, seaweed culture development.   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan perairan untuk pengembangan budidaya rumput laut Kappaphycus alvarezii di Pantai Dodinga.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei meliputi parameter fisik, kimia dan biologi perairan.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa parameter fisik, kimia dan biologi memenuhi kriteria untuk pertumbuhan rumput laut.  Berdasarkan kesesuaian air yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, perairan Teluk Dodinga dikategorikan kelas S-2 atau memiliki kriteria kesesuaian median, yaitu perairan yang memiliki batas moderat untuk budidaya rumput laut atau kurang berpengaruh pada kualitas lingkungan air, dan masih bisa dimanfaatkan untuk pengembangan budidaya rumput laut di bawah beberapa prasyarat teknis. Abstract

Penempatan reef ball di perairan Teluk Buyat dan sekitarnya telah dilakukan pada tahun 1999 oleh PT. Newmont Minahasa Raya. Tujuan penempatan reef ball untuk membangun habitat berbagai biota yang berasosiasi dengan karang sehingga dapat meningkatkan populasi ikan ekonomis penting. Kehadiran ikan karang pada reef ball sangat penting secara ekologis dan ekonomis. Penurunan kualitas terumbu berarti hilangnya nilai ekonomi barang dan jasa, serta hilangnya jaminan makanan dan pekerjaan untuk masyarakat pesisir, yang umumnya hidup dalam kemiskinan. Secara keseluruan, komposisi spesies ikan yang ditemukan di reef ball terdiri dari 19 famili, 34 genus, 50 spesies dan 290 individu, yang tertinggi dihuni oleh jenis dari famili Mullidae. Seiring dengan bertambahnya waktu dan usia reef ball, beberapa spesies terlihat sudah menetap seperti Lutjanus kasmira, dan beberapa spesies dari famili Acanthuridae. Keberadaan reef ball membantu terbentuknya ekosistem terumbu karang yang baru dan meningkatkan kesuburan perairan, sehingga lebih meningkatkan keberadaan komposisi ikan karang, yang pada akhirnya meningkatkan pendapatan nelayan dari hasil tangkapan ikan karang.Kata kunci: Reef ball, karang batu, ikan karang Distribution of Coral Reefs and Fish in Buyat Bay Area Reef Ball Southeast Minahasa Regency The placement of reef ball in Buyat Bay and surrounding areas have been carried out since 1999 by PT. Newmont Minahasa Raya. The goal of this placement was to build a habitat for many biota associated with reef thus may improve economically important fish populations. The presence of reef fish on the reef ball is indispensable ecologically and economically. Furthermore, the degradation of reefs might cause the disappearance of economic value of goods and services, as well as the disappearance of food security and employment for coastal communities, who generally live in poverty. Overall, the composition of fish species found in the reef ball consists of 19 families, 34 genera, 50 species and 290 individuals, the highest inhabited by species of the family Mullidae. As time went by and the increase of reef ball age, some species seem have settled down such as Lutjanus kasmira, and several species of the Acanthuridae family. In addition, the presence of reef ball helps the formation of a new coral reef ecosystem and increase the fertility of waters, therefore enhancing the presence of reef fish composition, which might increases the income of fishermen. Abstract

Eris Society in the village of utilizing the waters of Lake Tondano as a place to fish cultivation in floating net system and step on floating net karamba system. Karamba unit developments and floating net cages in the area of ​​cultivation step on the less controllable negative impact on the aquatic environment such as pollution of water quality. For this study aims to measure the quality parameters including pH, temperature, brightness and analyzed water quality parameters including turbidity, dissolved oxygen, ammonia and phosphate so that the water quality conditions in the Village of Lake Tondano District Eris Eris known. From the results obtained by the temperature at a depth of 0.5 meters from surface water ranged from 25.3 to 28.3 º C, at a depth of 0.5 meters from the lake bottom ranged from 24.7 to 28 º C, the brightness ranges from 182-325 cm, turbidity ranges from 7 - 16 NTU, the pH at a depth of 0.5 meters from the water surface ranged from 6.89 to 8.09, at a depth of 0.5 meters from the lake bottom ranged from 6.93 to 8.03, dissolved oxygen ranged from 7.10 to 7.52 mg / L, ammonia ranging from 0.03 to 0.14 mg / L, and phosphate ranged from 0.02 to 0.12 mg / L. Temperature, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen and phosphate at the sites are still in good condition that is still in accordance with the water quality standard. For turbidity and ammonia has passed the threshold water quality standard. This is presumably due to domestic wastewater effluent from surrounding communities, causing decomposition which affects the water quality conditions. However the waters in the village of Eris can be used for aquaculture. This is evidenced by the persistent cultivation of fish in the Village District Eris Eris.

Abstract

Perubahan kondisi perairan pesisir sesuai dengan fenomena pasang surut, gelombang dan arus dinamis setiap saat.  Tujuan riset ini adalah: mengukur dan menganalisis keadaan air pasang dari Teluk Amurang sesuai periode umur bulan; dan mengetahui dan menganalisis karakteristik arus pantai dan gelombang sesuai dengan periode umur bulan. Arah arus untuk stasiun 1 diamati bergerak ke arah barat laut pada saat permukaan laut mengalami surut sementara saat air pasang bergerak ke barat daya. Untuk stasiun 2 diamati pada permukaan laut telah surut ke arah barat-barat laut bergerak arus pasang saat naik atau laut ke selatan. Berdasarkan pengamatan pengaruh terbesar pada stasiun 1 disebabkan oleh arus sungai Ranoyapo ke stasiun 2 sedangkan pengaruh ini disebabkan oleh arus pasang surut dan angin. Energi total gelombang stasiun 1 adalah 0,076 joule, sedangkan maksimum adalah 0,406 joule. Pada stasiun 2 energi total gelombang adalah 0,364 joule dan maksimum adalah 1,28 joule. Hasil pengukuran pasang surut menunjukkan bahwa jenis air pasang dari teluk Amurang  memiliki tipe campuran atau ganda condong semidiurnal harian, yaitu di siang dan malam ada dua kali dan dua kali surut dengan berbagai berbeda. Kata Kunci : Teluk Amurang, Arus, Gelombang, Pasang Surut, Angin ABSTRACT Changes in the condition of coastal waters in accordance with the phenomenon of tides, waves and currents dynamically at any time. Research objectives are: Measuring and analyzing the state of the tide from  Amurang Bay accordance with generally different month period (the period of full moon, quartir 1, die-month period, and period quartir 3). Knowing and analyzing the characteristics of the flow near the coast (the current speed and direction of flow), and the wave (wave energy) at location in accordance with age-month period in the sky. Current direction for the station first observed moving to the northwest at sea had receded at high tide while moving to the southwest. To station 2 is observed on the surface of the sea has receded to the west-northwest as the tide moves up or sea to the south. Based on the observation station 1 the greatest influence on river flow caused by Ranoyapo to station 2, while the effect is caused by tidal currents and wind. Total wave energy station 1 is 0.076 joules, while the maximum is 0.406 joules. At station 2 the total wave energy is 0.364 joules and the maximum is 1.28 joules. The measurement results show that the type of tide water mark of the bay Amurang have double type or a mixture of semidiurnal leaning daily, ie at lunch and dinner there twice and both times with a variety of different receding.
